VGHN7XDuOXPAzol··on YouTube No Translation
+1 even if you don't understand the language, it's nice to hear the real voice.

This auto-dub-translation feature is also problematic in that viewers don't realise it's happening. I think that is unreasonably misleading. It could be great as an option, but it should really prompt you before switching it on.

That way people would not be forced to use it, and people would be aware of it.

VGHN7XDuOXPAzol··on Define policy forbidding use of AI code generators
This claim just seems like sensationalist marketing BS. If you find the real quote:

> “I’d say maybe 20%, 30% of the code that is inside of our repos today and some of our projects are probably all written by software,” Nadella said during a conversation before a live audience with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

'maybe', 'probably', 'some of our projects', 'by software'

'software' would include many sorts of tools that are not AI.

Either the CEO talks like a primary school child unintentionally or it's on purpose to drive some clicks without saying anything 'technically' wrong.

And this is the CEO of a company that benefits from the doubt.

Am I too cynical?

Not the person you're asking, but I find it adds a delay to setting off and frequently feels 'wrong' because it cuts the engine for a very short time.

(I don't often drive at rush hour, so often I might just stop at a light for literally 1 or 2 seconds whilst it notices I'm there and then switches over to green, or maybe I've timed it almost right to slow down gradually to the lights and only have to stop for a short time at the end.)

I don't know anything but I have been wondering if it might actually be worse for emissions and engine wear for the auto to cut off only for 1 or 2 seconds each time.

I can see the appeal in traffic with longer waits though?

VGHN7XDuOXPAzol··on Python Has Too Many Package Managers
when we did a comparison of package managers that lock dependencies, we wrote up some interesting notes at https://github.com/matrix-org/synapse/issues/11537#issuecomm...

Notable omission in pip-tools which many are suggesting here as being simpler: it can't write requirements files for multiple environments/platforms without running it once for each of those environments and having one file for all of them.

We settled on Poetry at the time but it has been quite unstable overall. Not so bad recently but there were a lot of issues/regressions with it over time.

For this reason I am happy to see new takes on package management, hopefully some of these will have clearer wins over the others, where you have to spend ages trying to figure out which one will do what you need.
