TwoFactor··on Samsung Caught Using Apple Watch Design Figures in a Recent Patent Filing
Thats actually where I saw it, but it cited the one I posted as the original. Wasn't sure which to post.
TwoFactor··on Hacked Bitcoin firm plans to spread losses across all users
They don't appear to be using official auditors, and have not mentioned bankruptcy as one of their current options.

The current speculation is that they will continue operating, and issue coins that either represents equity or debt in the company to compensate customers.

TwoFactor··on LendingClub CEO Resigns Following Loan Sales Review
Wow, been on HN for years and never realized that haha. Thanks!
TwoFactor··on Blimps Protecting Washington, D.C
Ground-based radars a typically constrained by line-of-sight on the horizon, and the curvature of the earth - you can't see anything beyond the horizon. Being elevated gives you a much larger range as that tangent line moves significantly outward.
TwoFactor··on SEC Charges Bitcoin Entrepreneur For Share Offering
It definitely falls under money transmission - which could be worse as far as penalties go
TwoFactor··on Graphing the distribution of English letters
Its interesting the vowels all have very similar distributions except for e.
TwoFactor··on EBay CEO Asked About Amazon, Bitcoin and Unpopular Seller Policy
Relevant quote from the conference call: "We think Bitcoin will play a very important role in the future. Exactly how that plays out, and how we can best take advantage of it and enable it with PayPal, that's something we're actively considering. It's on our radar screen."
TwoFactor··on An estimate of the real savings for merchants from Bitcoin
There is a lot more risk on the consumer allowing a merchant (and vicariously the consumer's bank) full "pull" access to a bank account. You'll need a dispute resolution system, which is what debit cards are basically providing in addition to point of sale systems. Imagine a security compromise like with Target, but if there was full bank account access as well... it would be a nightmare.

Bitcoin is "push" based which eliminates the ability to fraudulently pull charges from the sender's account. Banks also charge a fee, and add transfer times to transactions that are basically non-existant with bitcoin

TwoFactor··on Your SaaS product is too cheap if you never lose customers because of pricing
Yes, but market share isn't everything. If you're making 10% more per customer with 10% less customers, you're worrying about keeping less customers happy and can focus on making the smaller group even happier for ~ the same revenue. I'd be interested in seeing your simulation if you decide to make it available.
TwoFactor··on Why Bitcoin is a significant breakthrough, but perhaps not as a currency
Coinbase uses Bitstamp pricing +1%, so depending on how much you're transferring it could be worth it. Bitstamp, and BTC-e are really the only two options for US customers that want any decent order book depth.
TwoFactor··on Bitcoin Falls 20% on PBOC Rumors, Chinese Exchanges Reinstate Fees
The new fee structure seems more regulatory related. They did it overnight without warning, and right after the reported closed-door meeting. OKCoin the second largest CNY exchange followed suit and started charging fees. This would have been a great opportunity to capture market share if btcchina had made the decision without outside influence.
TwoFactor··on The origin of zero-based array indexing
The confusion beginners have is that 0 usually indicates a lack of something, while an array starting at 0 does have content. People don't start counting a heard of cattle with 0, since 0 would indicate the absence of any cows. However array x[0] can contain a value.
TwoFactor··on Study Suggests Link Between Dread Pirate Roberts and Satoshi Nakamoto
That was due to an improper update the community made to the code, not the code that SN wrote himself.
TwoFactor··on A Look at the Bitcoin Economy
This. There's been a lot metrics growing in bitcoin beyond the large price increase and VC funding.
TwoFactor··on Coinsetter Launches US Bitcoin Exchange, Cross-Exchange Liquidity Coming Soon
I'm glad to see someone making progress in the US derivatives regulatory environment. Bitcoin badly needs an options market to reduce volatility risk, and this is probably a good first step.
TwoFactor··on Skunk Works Reveals SR-71 Successor Plan
>Atmospheric? Sure. Hypersonic? Why?

These are to augment current capabilities, especially if there's escalation of hostilities. If there's a conflict in the Pacific, we cant rely on having our forward air bases. Most likely these will be launched from domestic locations and ingress/egress time will have a large impact on total coverage time.

TwoFactor··on How the Bible and YouTube are fueling the next frontier of password cracking
Thanks, I forgot to go back to the first page after I read the article.
TwoFactor··on FBI struggles to seize 600,000 Bitcoins from alleged Silk Road founder
Lawyers are very careful not accept money that may be related to a crime. I doubt he has significant savings that he can prove was earned outside of Silk Road.
TwoFactor··on FBI struggles to seize 600,000 Bitcoins from alleged Silk Road founder
Since the wallet file is a set of private keys... they're basically the same thing. You're recreating the wallet if you're restoring the private keys from a stored copy.
TwoFactor··on After Silk Road
No, Atlantis dissapeared over a week ago without refunding user's money.
TwoFactor··on [dead]
When you imagine what a psychological impact shuttering SR would have had early 2012 its completely amazing how fast bitcoin is growing. Its legitimate uses are compelling...
TwoFactor··on [dead]
What? You really think that the same amount of people will pay $10 for an article as $0.10. That's completely ridiculous.
TwoFactor··on [dead]
Users that aren't providing any revenue will get pissed off. Companies work hard to create content and are bleeding money. Why do people feel entitled to free content?

The article is contending that users paying for content will increase the quality of content available since companies will have more on the line with bad articles. Bitcoin allows for the possibility of frictionless experience and no need for accounts with specific companies, just a bitcoin wallet.

TwoFactor··on World’s Largest Bitcoin Exchange Out $10 Million
Except these issues are with companies that are using the currency not properly understanding local regulations. This had nothing to do with bitcoin as a currency or protocol.
TwoFactor··on Bitcoin Network Speed Breaks 1 Petahash per Second
All Ripples were pre-minted and in control of the founders. They've only released a very limited supply of them.
