Trasmatta··on Tl;dv: Over 180k meetings left wide open
> tl;dv names their microservices after pasta. A subdomain scan reveals cappellini, carbonara, fusilli, pasta, penne, puttanesca-v0, and ravioli, all under tldv.io. An entire Italian restaurant worth of Express servers.

Pretty appropriate, given a vulnerability of this severity. Literal microservice spaghetti.

(Also, please, let's all move back to boring names for services and servers. Nobody likes trying to decode what all these silly names mean.)

EDIT:

omg, the disclosure communication is infuriating.

> We're on it. It needs some time, but rest assured we're following through. For further communication, i'll recommend reaching out to our CTO

This should have been a P1 that was fixed same day, and they strung him along for months. Absolute amateurs.

Trasmatta··on Silicon Valley misreads science fiction and undermines democracy
I think some of them intentionally model themselves after the evil characters in fiction. I remember seeing Musk talk one time about how he loves the game Deus Ex. And there's an almost uncanny resemblance between his actions and Bob Page's.

The other canonical example of this is the naming of Palantir, of course.

In many cases I think it's less that they misread the fiction, and more that they intentionally model themselves after the villains in fiction.

Trasmatta··on Ten advances in mathematics and theoretical computer science
Society at large is getting worse at critical thinking, because we are increasingly offloading that thinking to AI
Trasmatta··on The tiny holdout building in the middle of Macy’s is back in view
It's a nice Saturday afternoon, and I'm literally in Midtown right now, wandering around after walking down 5th Avenue (it's shut down to cars today for "Summer Streets"). Perfect chance to walk over and take a look at this. I love city oddities like this.

EDIT: got a great view of it. Fascinating that this dilapidated structure has just been hiding in plain sight all these years.

Trasmatta··on OverpAId – Fire your CEO. Hire the future
> Even if some people will be less productive, the organization as a whole will function better

This is what the execs might THINK but it's not actually based in real evidence. RTO does not make organizations function better. Execs are gaslighting themselves into believing that RTO makes the org function better, but it's an illusion.

Trasmatta··on OverpAId – Fire your CEO. Hire the future
Exactly my reaction. Of course a CEO is going to write a post saying "CEOs are expensive but worth it". At least they admitted to it, I guess!
Trasmatta··on ICE to Pay Thomson Reuters $125M to Find Voter Fraud
There's no mechanism that could possibly cancel the mid-terms. What we should worry about is the election being interfered with, and swayed by intimidation and disinformation, NOT being cancelled.
Trasmatta··on We want Texans to know their rights
It's no longer safe to even use a period tracking app in many US states now. The women I know are all cautioning each other to go back to pen and paper, and ditch anything app based.
Trasmatta··on GPT-5.6
Switched to Codex last week, and I'm already MUCH happier than I have been with Claude Code. Which surprised me.
Trasmatta··on Potential session/cache leakage between workspace instances or consumer accounts
The first reply clearly being a copy and paste from Claude made me want to vomit

If people absolutely need to use AI to write replies, they NEED to start including a "everything after this was generated by AI" disclaimer

Trasmatta··on Meta caps internal AI token spending
All those billions spent on tokens by Meta, and not a single iota of value generated by any of it
Trasmatta··on Elevated error rate across multiple models
Protip: in the olden days we used to be able to read and write code ourselves. Worth trying while Claude is down! You might have fun and learn something!
Trasmatta··on Jobs and Software Is Fucked
It really is awful right now. I'm lucky enough to still have a job, but floated my resume around earlier this year. I have a pretty good resume and and 15 YOE, and got turned down EVERYWHERE. I used to at least get interviews at like 50% of places I applied to.

And then recruiter spam is COMPLETELY gone. I'm not really complaining, but it feels indicative of where things are at.

Trasmatta··on Companies rein in AI usage as costs strain budgets
I knew this was going to be the end result after seeing so many companies reward employees based on how many tokens they were using. My company even pulled stats and gave physical awards out at an in person retreat. Ridiculous, and it was never going to last.
Trasmatta··on I Am Not a Reverse Centaur
People are very proud of their prompts I guess

It's like people being proud of the AI slop art they produce

Trasmatta··on I Am Not a Reverse Centaur
> The other thing I can't help but see though is how excited my non-programmer friends are to finally be able to make software. The sense of pride and accomplishment from non-coders who are finally able to make something work the way they wanted to.

There was nothing stopping them from making software before... Over the past ~15 years, the amount of resources to learn programming, and to make the whole process approachable, is staggering. It just took some time and effort. People are just excited that they can skip past the effort part now. But we've lost something in the process.

Trasmatta··on Why I'm Forced to Say Farewell: Google Management Has Lost Its Moral Compass
Yeah, it's wild to be writing a post like this in June 2026. Even if he thought Google was somehow still salvageable, how did he justify staying there after Google immediately bent the knee to Trump with the $1 million bribe a year and a half ago?
Trasmatta··on Lines of Code Got a Better Publicist
Sounds like it's working for you, but none of that explains to me why every engineer should be doing that, and every day
Trasmatta··on Lines of code got a better publicist
And also delivering things nobody wants or will use, just because they can.
Trasmatta··on Lines of code got a better publicist
It seems to be based on some idea that there's no way you can be productive enough without AI. But I've yet to see any companies really shipping meaningful software at some unprecedented speed that was not possible pre-AI. Instead, I see a lot of half baked features and buggy apps. I am not convinced that those that choose to either NOT use AI or use it more sparingly / judiciously (my preference), are somehow going to be "left in the dust".
Trasmatta··on Lines of code got a better publicist
I read the entire paragraph, and the entire article. Nothing in there explained to me why every engineer should be using AI every day.
Trasmatta··on Lines of code got a better publicist
> I think every engineer should be using AI daily.

Why?

Trasmatta··on How liminalism became the defining aesthetic
Liminialism is way way more popular these days than cyberpunk or anything like that. Please go talk to a group of teenagers if you don't believe me.
Trasmatta··on Ask HN: So what happened to Facebook "localhost" tracking?
Without the protection of a union, "just saying no" is a good way to get fired
Trasmatta··on Meta workers can opt out of being tracked at work up to 30 min
It's not actually that hard, most companies are morally superior to Meta. Even the other evil ones.
Trasmatta··on Meta workers can opt out of being tracked at work up to 30 min
There are no other companies that would pay your friend?
Trasmatta··on Having your insulin pump die while you're on vacation
Also on the Omnipod, and I also always travel with both extra pods AND extra insulin pens (basal and bolus insulin). That way I can switch back to MDI if for whatever reason my pods fail or I can't use them.
Trasmatta··on Having your insulin pump die while you're on vacation
I'm on a pump but always take backup insulin pens and needles when I travel, so that I can switch to MDI if needed. My QOL with a pump is so much better than it was with a decade+ of MDI.
Trasmatta··on The solution might be cancelling my AI subscription
AI makes code maintenance harder
Trasmatta··on We should be more tired than the model
Businesses are going to regret going all in on AI. It'll take a couple more years before the cracks start to show.
