TokyoKid··on Internet Freedoms in Palestine: Mapping of Digital Rights Violations and Threats [pdf]
Free Palestine
TokyoKid··on Netflix is Down
Net neutrality just kicked in yo
TokyoKid··on Knife-threatening app banned by Google
This seemed pretty harmless. I mean, no curse words, nothing sexual, just talk of a knife. I mean bugs bunny cartoons have worse.
TokyoKid··on It’s Time to Call Out the #BadApple
These assertions are highly debatable.
TokyoKid··on Slack Hopes Its AI Will Keep You from Hating Slack
Too late.
TokyoKid··on Burger King Deviously Explains Net Neutrality Making People Wait Longer for Food
Burger King markets to young men, and this is an issue important to young men. And it comes with almost no political blowback for being too left or right. Marketing.
TokyoKid··on Ask HN: Moving to Tokyo as a software engineer
There's a secret way to go to Japan on a very long visa: start your own company with a Japanese co-fouder and go there on a management visa. You can get up to a 5-year visa and it does NOT require a $50k investment.

If you want to stay longer, the only option through marriage.

TokyoKid··on Mysterious Dead Sea Scroll Deciphered in Israel
*deciphered in Palestine
TokyoKid··on How Apple Fumbled the Voice First Future
What voice first future?
TokyoKid··on Crowbars: Vending Machines Reward Crows for Cleaning Up Cigarette Butts
I think this is being misunderstood/reported around the web. This is not a thing yet. It's a design, an idea. No word on if or when it will really be used.
TokyoKid··on [dead]
Seems like the last thing anyone ought to regret.
TokyoKid··on How Duolingo achieved a 50:50 gender ratio for new software engineer hires
This is an anti-sexism measure.
TokyoKid··on Show HN: Block time wasting sites (like HN) until Duolingo reviews are done
Holy smokes. Can we get a BlockIFTTT? Block anything if something isn't done.
TokyoKid··on Apple iPhone X 'End of Life' Predicted, Production Cuts Seen
There was a line-up for the iPhone X in November where I live. There was still that much demand for it. But obviously there's a big part of the market that can't even consider it.
TokyoKid··on Google’s Fuchsia OS on the Pixelbook: It Works
macOS and iOS.
TokyoKid··on Google’s Fuchsia OS on the Pixelbook: It Works
I think the issue being with the GPL that they can't sell it directly.
TokyoKid··on Wine 3.0 Released
What data is there about this? Also, underpowered how?
TokyoKid··on Ask HN: Why don't we volunteer as much anymore?
The fall of the Soviet Union saw a decline in financial support for grass roots movements worldwide. Neoliberalism has eroded support for such groups as well. Stagnant wages and rising household debt have reduced people's free time. And on the cultural front, we still teach that competition, not cooperation, is "human nature" (science does not support this).
TokyoKid··on Show HN: Light weight CoinMarketCap.com alternative with additional insights
I've heard that crypto market caps are extremely misleading. Any take on this?
TokyoKid··on Ask HN: Has Amazon.com gone downhill?
It will vary greatly based on whether the product is fulfilled by Amazon or not. If it's Prime-eligible it should show up on time (even at great cost to the workers delivering them, sadly). Despite appearances, Amazon is actually an eBay-like marketplace of thousand of individual sellers.
TokyoKid··on FCC keeps faster definition of broadband and separates mobile from fixed
Excuse me if I withhold my applause.
TokyoKid··on Wine 3.0 Released
I think few will switch from macOS over a video game not working.
TokyoKid··on Apple says no to app that detects net neutrality violations
Apple says no to just about every app.

This app seems to offer low functionality. The way around this is to add more features, the re-submit. I've been through the process before, sometimes what you add doesn't have to be much.

TokyoKid··on Google’s Fuchsia OS on the Pixelbook: It Works
Why
TokyoKid··on Worst-case global warming scenarios not credible, says study
It will not be long before we learn the worst scenarios are actually too optimistic.
TokyoKid··on Bitcoin's decentralised nature is not a feature, its a bug
The out come has changed over time, and that's what science says, not my personal observation.
TokyoKid··on AWS Lambda equivalent in Heroku?
I don't think so, but perhaps this will put you in the right direction of Lambda-alternatives:

TokyoKid··on Bitcoin's decentralised nature is not a feature, its a bug
You start out with a good point, but the idea that there is one default human nature isn't right.
TokyoKid··on Elvish 0.11 released
Why: https://elvish.io/learn/unique-semantics.html
TokyoKid··on Pornhub saw 50% traffic increase in Hawaii in the minutes after missile threat
I'm really sick of Github seeing every event as a marketing opportunity and releasing the yet another graph. Like we get it, people touch themselves.
