Sujeto··on Bye Bye Ubuntu, Hello Manjaro. How Did We Get Here?
Arch works fine but sometimes I think I might prefer something like Debian Stable + Flatpak because the repos are frozen. Since Arch doesn't support partial upgrades, you have to upgrade the whole system every time a repo list refresh is required, basically. So some days after the last upgrade, some package you want to install is bumped, and a repo refresh list is required, which wouldn't be a problem in Debian. But Arch is rock solid and the AUR for obscure packages is something Debian doesn't have. I might be wrong about this opinion about partial upgrades etc, somebody let me know.
Sujeto··on Show HN: If you have over 99 tabs in Firefox mobile, you will get an infinity
Since I've been using Grasshopper I lost my tab clutter problem.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/grasshopper-u...

I use it as a sidebar. And have been hoarding tabs more because it's not a problem.

Sujeto··on Ask HN: Examples of desktop software with 20+ years of longevity?
FL Studio (aka Fruity Loops)

>The first version of FruityLoops (1.0.0) was developed by Didier Dambrin and was partially released on December 18, 1997.[13] Its official launch was in early 1998

Sujeto··on Vanilla OS 2.0 Orchid base is changing from Ubuntu to Debian
>Is there any telemetry

"No, we don't care about your data. Ours is better."

Ha ha

Sujeto··on TOML: Tom's Obvious Minimal Language
I moved some config files from json to yaml. Maintaining the documentation became a lot easier, because before I had a document describing every config option, which I had to maintain separately, instead now I have comments in the config file itself.
Sujeto··on Rekt.network
Great stuff. Already gave it a fixed spot in my monitor.
Sujeto··on Ask HN: How do I make a website in 2023?
All you need is html, js, css. Don't fall for the over-engineering meme. And a backend framework if you need a backend.
Sujeto··on Ask HN: What's your favorite GPT powered tool?
It can calculate at least https://i.imgur.com/MvXJa58.jpg

Now you're aware there's a tab manager using the forbidden name https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/grasshopper-u...

I liked the video.
Sujeto··on I Quit Reddit in 1 Day
Reddit is exclusively a knowledge-base for me to search with google.
Sujeto··on [dead]
irc is the place, get yourself a proper bot.
Sujeto··on Making friends as an adult is hard (2021)
I dislike hearing people talk. I think they don't talk nicely unless they're actual chads. Because I can detect when a person means something else, or when they are hating, or worse, my brain can take out-of-context phrases and hint that I'm in danger or among hostiles. I dislike voice chat as well. I limit myself to text communication.
Sujeto··on Ask HN: Do you use browser extensions, and if so, do you worry about security?
I trust my tab manager because I wrote it myself.

Sujeto··on Things I learned after getting users
Currently I'm using a code method, where registration requires a "code". I share this code lightly, and can change it at any time. Plus there's a re-captcha in both register and login pages to annoy abusers a bit more.
Sujeto··on Ask HN: How do you implement modal images?
A modal image on my site looks like this:

Sujeto··on How I Use My Mouse
The shortcuts are just a way to easily map actions. And I guess a way to kill 2 birds with one stone by having both devices available to those shortcuts. I think both devices are equally powerful.
Sujeto··on How I Use My Mouse
I didn't add a description to the mousewheel because I thought it was obvious it's super useful. I use it to close stuff, open links in a new tab, and of course gaming. Also with the Kova I get no problem about the wheel moving while actuating the button, it doesn't scroll.
Sujeto··on How I Use My Mouse
I'm usually surfing the web and generally interfacing with my computer with my hand on the mouse. So it makes sense to me to pack that device with actions. I also use a tiling wm (awesomewm) but I turned it into a windowed wm with rule-based tiling.
Sujeto··on How I Use My Mouse
Yep I use gestures heavily on the browser, almost without thinking.
Sujeto··on How I Use My Mouse
Loved that, looks advanced, and you also map Esc!
Sujeto··on For your next side project, make a browser extension
Yep, I ditched tabs from firefox altogether.

Now use my own sidebar extension.

Sujeto··on One Thing – Put a single task or goal in your menu bar
I use a todo thing I made https://madprops.github.io/Hoff/

I don't care about due dates, I just write the tasks I have to do in the short term (same day).

Then tick them when they're done.

It helps me not forget things too since I can add a task when I have an idea.

I have a dedicated spot on my monitor to display it.

Sujeto··on Show HN: Mimosa – Collaborative brainstorming with AI suggestions
Why anonymous voting?

Having a good "take" is something people like

If the idea turned out to be good they'd want some credit

But bad takes could be shameful so maybe you're right there

Sujeto··on Video games made in the USSR (2020)
I'm currently playing a King's Bounty game made by Katauri and 1C company. Russian companies.
Sujeto··on Breaking up with JavaScript front ends
Just use vanilla js. Re-use helpers on utils.js files. Refactor big utils into libraries.
