SomeHacker44··on Write code like a human will maintain it
I still code this way.
SomeHacker44··on Kernel anti-cheat is an overreach
Is there some reliable tool which can list all the kernel anti cheat that may be installed on my Windows system, and the games I need to uninstall to remove them? Or remove them directly? Thanks!
SomeHacker44··on DOJ Closing Abbott Labs Case Spurs Wider Corporate Crime Retreat
I believe treason is literally defined in the constitution itself as taking up arms against the country. By that definition, I think there have been few to almost no treasonous people in recent decades.
SomeHacker44··on In Praise of Observational Evidence
They reference RCT without first defining it.
SomeHacker44··on Qwen 3.6 27B is the sweet spot for local development
Can you please explain how you set it up? I run it on my 129G Strix Halo under Arch with Lemonade with OpenCode and it just sits there doing barely anything unless I leave it to run over night. Then it says it thought for 13.7 seconds but was really 15 minutes. Thanks! I am using the 27B dense MTP model quantized by UnSloth with the UD-Q8_K_L if memory serves.
SomeHacker44··on A game where you're an OS and have to manage processes, memory and I/O events
Does this game make me MCP? Can I battle Jeff Bridges with discs?
SomeHacker44··on Andrew Ng ships Open CoWorker desktop AI agent
Seems to be Mac/Windows only. No Linux yet.
SomeHacker44··on Show HN: Homebrew 6.0.0
Curious about this. Usually I try to get an Apt source (I use Ubuntu). Why would I want to use brew on Linux? I stopped using Macs and brew around 2018 when Apple started closing down it's macOS for a few years and got sick of it. Thanks!
SomeHacker44··on Show HN: Paseo – Beautiful open-source coding agent interface
Thanks, very nice! Any way to use it with Antigravity CLI/Gemini please?
SomeHacker44··on Nvidia RTX Spark
I believe Grace is an ARM designed core. Vera is the nVidia designed core.
SomeHacker44··on IXI's autofocusing lenses are almost ready to replace multifocal glasses
This exists. There was a frame with a slider on the nose bridge which refocuses circular lenses. I read about it a long (decade+?) time ago.
SomeHacker44··on Air France and Airbus found guilty of manslaughter over 2009 plane crash
1/16% is less than 0.001... A different number than being discussed, 1/16.
SomeHacker44··on Trump Mobile exposed customers' personal data
The only thing with trump I like is a hand of bridge.
SomeHacker44··on Frontier AI has broken the open CTF format
The article never defined CTF. Nor have the top comments here. Skip.

Basic rule: define every abbreviation when it is first used.

SomeHacker44··on Ask HN: Does anyone know what a monad is?
Perhaps you can also explain what a box is, and what a flatMap is please? Fortunately I know what map is already. Also, what does it mean to combine boxes in order? Thanks!
SomeHacker44··on Show HN: DAC – open-source dashboard as code tool for agents and humans
The blurb about this is repeated several times but it is unclear to me what it actually does.
SomeHacker44··on Dotcl: Common Lisp Implementation on .NET
Awesome! Has a MonoGame integration sample. Am curious to see if it will work with Godot or Unity. New weekend project...
SomeHacker44··on Functional programmers need to take a look at Zig
I found this funny. I am not sure if it was intended that way!

> Monads are not some kind of obscure math-y thing that only the big brains think are necessary. No, instead monads are a fundamental abstract algebraic description of imperative programming as a computational context.

Yep, as a non-big-brainer, I definitely get it now. :)

SomeHacker44··on Quirks of Human Anatomy
Male babies can lactate due to the high concentration of hormones in mother's milk.
SomeHacker44··on Waymo says can't avoid bike lanes because riders want to be dropped off in them
As a pedestrian, I fear cyclists the most. Please do block the bike lane while I am getting in and out so cyclists won't hit me. I have been almost killed by cyclists many more times than cars. My office building hires someone with a sign to stand in the crosswalk in front of the building where cyclists almost never respect the crosswalk.

Cyclists here regularly ignore red lights and also go the wrong way on streets and even in bike lanes.

SomeHacker44··on 1-Bit Hokusai's "The Great Wave" (2023)
Curious about the "no derivatives" license. Surely anything derivative would be of the original now public domain art and not this. I do not see how this could as a practical matter be enforced. IANAL though.
SomeHacker44··on Put your SSH keys in your TPM chip
Agree. This is why I do not use Passkeys, and I have 4 physical Yubikeys tied to every system I secure with them.
SomeHacker44··on Don't feel like exercising? Maybe it's the wrong time of day for you
I get literally sick after exercising. Like, nauseous and even on occasion vomit. I feel like crap afterwards, and need to almost immediately take a nap. I get zero immediate benefits from exercise (both weights and aerobics), and feel bad the rest of the day. If it is leg day, I drag while walking or taking stairs. I have never gotten a "runners high" or felt any same day benefits.

I do get benefits, mind you - my pinched nerve pains go away, I (sometimes) sleep better, my body looks better. But it is super hard to want to do it and gets done as minimally as possible to not have pain.

SomeHacker44··on Backblaze has stopped backing up OneDrive and Dropbox folders and maybe others
What software/workflow do you use for this Linux to B2 backup please?
SomeHacker44··on DaVinci Resolve – Photo
What Linux distro did you use? Any pointers? Thanks!
SomeHacker44··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (April 2026)
I have decided to put my GAS behind me and focus on truly learning one musical instrument, the MPC Live III. I aim to learn all the features and come up with several workflows at which I become fluent. The goal is to enable me to create songs without having to worry about constantly figuring out how to do something.
SomeHacker44··on Ask HN: What do you dislike most about Linux and Windows?
Windows (11 Pro): Bloat. Unusable Windows Content Search (on my 20T+ of data). Patches that cause reboots unexpectedly. Hard to configure full disk encryption that requires a password at boot time to unlock. Hard to figure out how to fix things that break, but Gemini helps. Hard to migrate to entirely new computer without a full reinstall. Touchy iSCSI support.

Linux (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS): No good integration with OneDrive and Google Drive at the filesystem level like on Windows. Too many distributions to consider. SNAP on Ubuntu (uninstalled). Scary Ubuntu LTS upgrades. Have not figured out Wine for the few Windows apps I would like to use. (Would love just having a VM like in the old days, with window manager integration.) Audio drivers, latency and music software is very fiddly. Bluetooth is sketchy, especially for audio. Support for hardware lags Windows heavily (e.g. Strix Halo, nVidia). Poor support for business devices like some scanners etc. So many problems with Wayland, screen sharing, window positioning, etc.

But I am starting a migration to Linux slowly but surely. Windows keeps getting worse; Linux is improving. (Linux user since 1992.)

SomeHacker44··on Senators want datacenters to come clean on power consumption
Trump administration seems to have tried to cancel a bunch of power sources (e.g. offshore wind).
SomeHacker44··on Super Micro Shares Plunge 25% After Co-Founder Charged in $2.5B Smuggling Plot
Curious what the features are that you like and can source from AliExpress? I have usually gotten boards from Asus and its ilk, these days with 4+ M.2 slots...
SomeHacker44··on Harold and George Destroy the World
I agree to a large extent. Yet, what we see going on in US political leadership truly is beyond my belief of what reasonable adults should do and act like, even as an (precocious, sharp) ex-child.
