SoKamil··on Native all the way, until you need text
The first one is the Claude iOS app uses and it seems to perform okay and has the ability to select text and stream stuff.
SoKamil··on Apple, Intel have reached preliminary chip-making deal
This is about FABs and not chip designs. Imagine a parallel universe where Apple was sourcing AMD chips (they actually did for graphic cards) and then went to TSMC to whom AMD is also a customer.

Intel is both at the same time, AMD and TSMC.

Google clearly wants only Google approved models to traverse the web.
SoKamil··on iOS 27 is adding a 'Create a Pass' button to Apple Wallet
Having boarding passes in Wallet which also update real time is so nice. Same thing with other tickets for events.

SoKamil··on Refusal in Language Models Is Mediated by a Single Direction
No wonder this data is in LibGen.
SoKamil··on Opus 4.7 knows the real Kelsey
That’s not feasible. Apparently only SOTA models present this behavior. Having cutoff date at paper publication significantly hinders its capabilities. Besides that, try to convince anyone to spend millions upon millions of dollars to train a model with primary goal of possibly being able to deanonymize one person.
SoKamil··on Opus 4.7 knows the real Kelsey
Luckily for Nakamoto, there have been so many attempts at deanonymizing that I bet prediction is too contaminated with noise.
SoKamil··on Ghostty is leaving GitHub
What? React has nothing to do with current state of affairs. In fact, React on GitHub currently exists in mere islands, i.e. in Projects and recently in Pull Requests. Most of the frontend is still Web Components[1] paired with Turbo[2] for hot reloading. GitHub is still as slow even with JavaScript disabled, try it yourself. Backend just serves stuff really slow. In fact, there is an alternative GitHub frontend (no affiliation) that feels snappier and is written in React.[3]

With that said, Mitchell complains about outages. These started directly after Microsoft acquisition[4] and are attributed to migration from AWS to Azure.

I’m doing mobile app development, it is about how much it takes to get submission approved and get significant amount of users.
SoKamil··on Claude Opus 4.7
> Usually a ground up rebuild is related to a bigger announcement. So, it's weird that they'd be naming it 4.7.

Benchmarks say it all. Gains over previous model are too small to announce it as a major release. That would be humiliating for Anthropic. It may scare investors that the curve flattened and there are only diminishing returns.

SoKamil··on How We Broke Top AI Agent Benchmarks: And What Comes Next
The more research on this topic is created, the more knowledge how to game them will be stored in future training data. And since it comes from university, it is ranked higher in data corpus. It sounds like a self fulfilling prophecy.

SoKamil··on Our commitment to Windows quality
No ads. No upselling. Being able to completely ignore Microsoft account and install offline. No telemetry if that’s what user decides, no opt-in - single dialog during installation. No dark patterns. That’s what people want.

SoKamil··on Don't post generated/AI-edited comments. HN is for conversation between humans
Don’t be afraid to make grammar mistakes or misspell stuff. Others will understand. You’re a human after all. That’s okay to make mistakes and feel uncomfortable with that.
SoKamil··on The window chrome of our discontent
Since Big Sur redesign, light mode on macOS is borderline unusable.

I need contrast in order to differentiate content. I need contrast on buttons to know where to click and what is clickable. I don’t need to depend on muscle memory. On Catalina it was automatic. Chrome in moderation is not bad.

SoKamil··on Grammarly is offering ‘expert’ AI reviews from famous dead and living writers
Authority washing.
SoKamil··on If AI has a bright future, why does AI think it doesn't?
a) LLM’s don’t have introspection capabilities

b) in my observation, the longer context window, the more unhinged/pessimistic LLM output becomes

SoKamil··on Gemini 3.1 Pro
It seems they trained the model to output good svg’s.

In their blog post[1], first use case they mention is svg generation. Thus, it might not be any indicator at all anymore.
