Came to say the same thing. Thought it was actual pictures of old documents until I realized it was interactive. Worked on my iPhone which is equally impressive. Not many of the 3d sites showcased here do.
Thank you for the info. Man now I second guessing that impulse buy. Going to read up and maybe even have them remove it. Tech was a good salesman and made me feel like I was helping my family, while I might have done the exact opposite. Glad I asked, and glad you took the time to inform me.
Just curious what peoples thoughts are on whole house ionizer’s that attach to the furnace. Just got an inspection and mentioned we recently had our ducts cleaned as our youngest has mild Asthma and I have mild allergies. The duct cleaning has kept our filter super clean over the last 6 months but I asked what else I could do. Long story short got a ionizer on sale but after seeing it installed and it’s relatively small size feeling like it might be kinda scammy. It’s a plasma air air purifier and I looked them up and have good reviews, but without actually testing the air before and after not sure how to prove it does anything. Sorry I know it’s a tad off topic but kinda related since one of the claims is ‘ Plasma Air significantly reduces airborne pollutants commonly found in homes such as bacteria and viruses, mold spores, odors, chemicals from paint, varnish and cleaning agents, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and even cancer-causing formaldehyde emitted from furniture’. Cheers and thanks for any feedback.
Check your settings. On mine I need to tell it when I am supposed to be sleeping 11 - 8 that’s how it knows to track sleep. It’s show me sleeping every night at 11 even if I’m not. Garmin instinct fyi.
Not sure where you are located but they already do have this. I have a class one pedal assist which cuts out at 20 mph. Allowed on most Mnt bike trails and to do 20 for any amount of distance requires substantial effort. I get passed on the paved bike trails all the time by road bikes with way more gears. Then class 2 which has a throttle and can go 30ish. Then class 3 with a throttle and speed is essentially whatever you can do. 2 and 3 are not allowed on any Mnt bike trails and depending on city, county, are crazy to ride on the paved bike trails, not legal, but do see every now and then. Most people that own them respect the rule.
Make sure you are not drinking alcohol, avoid stimulates, and hydrate. If you are doing all that and still not going to 100 might be defective. I wear my watch pretty loose and still get great results. I thought mine was not working at first but turns out was drinking to much coffee and alcohol for my body to actually get to 100. Also make sure you are getting minimum 8 hours sleep. When you are at zero can take 10 - 12 to get up to 100 then you will not be starting from zero each night.
Also pay close attention to the Garmin body battery. When I first got it was like I don’t need a device to tell me if I got a good night sleep, but I was wrong. The biggest thing is alcohol, drink around noon golden. Drink up to bed time going to be at zero when you wake up. Went on vacation and drank every day for a week was cruising at zero the whole time. Got back first night good sleep 100! Also staying up late and not drinking enough water will give the same results. Makes you think about drinking more when you got a big day ahead, although like I said can game the body by drinking from noon - 3 then rehydrating before bed. Cheers!
Background I have worked at a low code/ no code shop. We could deliver prototypes fast. But that’s just it they were prototypes that went into production but at that point clients were hooked just where you want them. At that point feature requests require one of two things. A coder to build a new no code widget or more likely just code the feature. So to summarize they make the easy things easy but the hard things impossible. As time goes on maybe you have enough widgets to be successful but most problems are one offs where the widget is only needed once so why build the widget when coding is faster and cheaper?
I could be wrong but just firing up a modern web browser is going to use more ram than that. Theoretically if you shut down the browser and opened the app you would be using less ram? Personably would not be worried about ram on a modern device and electron apps run on most OS’s so a good choice overall.
The grass is always greener on the other side. Having been through many companies you always think it’s just this one that uses bad tools, does not test the way I think they should, time frames are unrealistic, managers have no technical experience. Truth is it’s all of them. You got your foot in the door now start looking for that dream spot, even though not many will find it and if you do congratulations you are in the minority. With your attitude maybe they just want to see if you can pay your dues before they put you on something you might deem important.
While it’s great to dream I hope the CSV file stays around until I retire. Still the best way to get ‘simple’ data out of excel and uploaded on the front end (papa parse). More complicated data most likely should be using another format. I guess there is always TSV if the CSV goes away :)
Very cool. I work from home in my basement and would enjoy such a device. Any plans to sell them? Or know of similar devices? I could probably build one, but most likely would end up in pieces next to my other random projects…
I agree with your assessment. I am on call for a week once every few months. Sometime it’s light and still get work done other time all we do is field calls and put out fires. Normally we work 40 hours, sometimes more sometimes less. Saying I was only going to work 32 hours and not be available 1 day a week would not work very well. I suspect the employer would win by paying you less but the employee would end up working the same, sometimes more sometimes less. At the end of the day the work needs to be done no matter how long it takes. But I also work 2 jobs full time analyst / programmer and TA CS courses so I might just be an outlier. I make enough to only work 1 job, but I like helping students. The extra money does help and I would not do it for free. So short answer is NO I would not work 4 days a week for 80% pay.
I also like zoom over the alternatives. Does it have problems, yes but what software doesn’t. I have been using zoom for years (my school switched early) compared to previous tools it just worked and worked well. Yes I know they lied and deceived but again marketing is always full of BS and guess who makes the blurbs we read on the internet about a company. Again the constantly changing UI is annoying but what is better? If someone has something better that even my grandma can use I will give it a shot.
Just wanted to say thanks for sharing (again I guess). I have heard of d3 but not the observable project or jig. Not sure how I can use it exactly, but having it downloadable does give the user the confidence to put data In they would not feel comfortable online only. Like some other users have said going to be hard to take on excel / tableau but for programmers they can prototype something fast and cool. Look forward to trying them both out. Keep up the good work!
I agree if you merge early and often everything goes smooth and if you have a stale branch your doing something else wrong. At least for the work I do, web dev. Some of our pipeline folks are working under a different paradigm and they run into these problems often but also understand how to rebase and cherry pick. As always just depends,
I was doing ArcGis about 10 years ago and it was amazing the quality of the free maps MN data deli provided. Your comment makes me excited to try out these new tools even tho I mainly do front end work now. It’s a great time to be a programmer!
Curious if anyone here has tried mint? Looks to be a few years old and still at version 0.11.00. Looked at elm but still going down the web component rabbit hole on my next project. I guess I need to stop looking and just keep building
Interesting comment. Hopefully after building something with Ficus I can better appreciate Angular. The biggest issue I have is updating projects. Its fine if you only support 1 application but when you have 2 or 3, they start to end up on different versions and when you get back you have to spend a month updating to the latest versions, instead of adding tangible value to the product. Maybe I am just bitter as started on Angular 2 updated app to 3 then 4 then 5 then 6 then moved to another app for a year. Get back to app 1 and now we are 5 versions behind, and we are slowly moving forward again. Update to 7 this release and go from there, I guess.
The event bus is one of the more interesting concepts. You could have a single component that includes the HTML table/view component and the add item dialog component wrapped into one bigger component. When the add component closes fires event to the view component to refresh based on the new data. A global state object might be easier, but I have yet to jump on the global store (flux/redux/NgRx) wagon yet. Although I do look forward to learning about how Ficus implements the global store and how I can use the concept in future projects.
