>>I realize that it is 2am and I’m exhausted physically so I should go to bed, but mentally I feel on fire.
This doesn't happen to very many people.
It happened to me before all the time. But for some reason I can't do it any more. Now, I have to force myself. Does it mean I wasted my talent? I hope not. This laziness started when I took a year off from writing any code or doing any job and was just having fun with my friends I haven't seen a few years, travelling, etc.. I guess, the only way to get back on the track is to practice.
And I think that most people had this flow when they could work for 30h/day, if so to speak.
I speak two languages: English and Russian. Though it drives me crazy when I have to use software and especially cellphones in Russian - I can't understand anything there.
I'd say, everyone needs to know English, but I wouldn't like if majority switched to English as their only language. In my opinion, other languages help us to learn history of their countries.
Great! I'll try JQuery 1.4 custom build. It seems that's exactly what I need. P.S. Does anybody know, why I can't up-vote comments and can up-vote news?
I understand that the word 'traditional' may be a bit confusing. Anyway, in my opinion, it's the News Industry before the Social Media. ..It's not a very precise definition, though.
I don't know much about the insides of Russian economy, but I'm absolutely sure that it's possible to become a successful entrepreneur in your country. Of course, probably one won't become an owner of Nornikel or GazProm, but what can stop him creating a successful startup in Russia, especially when you have favourable tax laws? The only thing that comes to my mind, is lack of VC infrastructure. Well, perhaps, I am too much in love with Russia and don't see some obvious things. Cheers.
Not sure what you mean, but as far as I can tell, you're saying that images loaded with JavaScript won't be cached by browser(>>cached locally<<)? Though I'm not a JavaScript Ninja, but I think that JS loads images by manipulating the DOM of a page: creating new elements, changing attributes/style. If that's what you mean, then I'm sure that all modern browsers cache these images as well. Or have I completely misunderstood you?
I want to thank everyone who helped me to get all the information I need on this. Though I found the solution which fits me most(xignite.com 59USD/month for real-time quotes), I wouldn't be able to do it without you. Thank you.
I began to learn programming when I was 11, now I'm almost 22. As for the answer, in my opinion, it's never late to learn anything. Like Nike's motto goes, Just do it.
In Russian papers they say that the military of Russia denies any rocket tests at all. Though, rocket tests were really planned for the morning of Wednesday. It should have been a 13th test launch of "Bulava" rocket(previously only 5 succeeded partly).
The same issue bothers me as well. I don't need visa to visit the states as a tourist(I need one to work there though). What if my startup will be accepted at YCombinator, will I be able to go there and work on my startup without work permit?
What bothers me even more, is that very often voting is based on personal preference. For example, being down-voted by Google fans, when one criticized Google.
I love low-level code world. It's just so different from all those dynamic languages. Though I still remember those times when C wasn't called a low-level language. But these days it goes like: "C? No StringBuilder? No OOP? What are Pointers? Nah, I don't do Assembler..". Proud to be a C coder.
P.S. No offense, dynamic languages and high-level stuff are actually very good and save a lot of time. It's just that I'm in love with C all my life. Cheers.
The first time I read it was a few years ago, and it was in Russian. Brings back some memories, like when I was so crazy about programming that I learned basics of assembler using only the debug utility on windows without any books. Those were great days!
Personally, I hate GoDaddy it's a company that rips you off.
For domain registration I use Name.com for many years now and I'm very happy with it. Plus, you can hide your contact details for free, where is GoDaddy charge you for that. Of course, you can easily change your DNS settings: All of my domains point to ns.linode.com.
I don't believe in New World Order theories, but you have to admit that those people who are funding president candidates are not doing it for free or out of democratic/liberal believes. They have their voice on the country.
I agree. This language is not a general-purpose programming language, at least not at the moment. Although, I can see how I can use it to build a small(but customized to my needs) COMET server in a more simpler way.
I code in Scala for some time now. Love this language! Though I think that Node.JS is something different and has different purpose(yet to be discovered). Scala as any language that runs on JVM, doesn't completely support Non-Blocking IO(this should be fixed in Java 7 though).
I've compiled it and had a brief look at this. I have got only this to say, it is a very important evolutionary step in server-side coding and coding in general. Really impressed! Though I have one more question, how do you handle concurrency? I mean, mutex, locks, etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being picky, just wondering what could be the best solution for this.
Edit:
Or Events in EventEmitter are being executed one at a time, so there is no need for locks?
Sorry, can somebody explain me how this works? Obviously, I'm missing something.
Is the code being interpreted on the server-side? Then my question is, how fast it is and if it's capable to serve large number of connections? Actually, it's very exciting if it runs no slower than Java.
Oh, my:) You know, I appreciate your help for pointing and explaining me the down-votes. There is one thing I want to say though: If this Karma thing is important for you guys, just do what you think is best. As for me, I don't care if my Karma here is like -xxx or +xxx, alright? I registered here for more important purpose, like getting to know good people and read good news I missed in my Google Reader. I don't troll here, so if I feel like saying a thank you to one of you, I will do so. As I said before, do what you think is best. Cheers!;)
