Skalman··on Mozilla can produce near-native performance on the Web
There a bug for V8 about implementing asm.js: http://code.google.com/p/v8/issues/detail?id=2599
Skalman··on Click on the "I" and the "O"
That doesn't work for me. OIOIOOII does, though - it leads to https://developers.google.com/events/io/experiment-eightbit.
Skalman··on Microsoft prepares U-turn on Windows 8
No, it seems like it's still up, though for some reason on place 81. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5667466
Skalman··on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail Released
They still haven't updated the main page, nor the download page - http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop still suggests to get Ubuntu 12.10.
Skalman··on Gnome 3 bug
Consider filing Gnome bugs at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/, not on HN.
Skalman··on JQuery 2.0 Released
Yeah, it gives me 29 errors. You might as well use UglifyJS, the same compressor that jQuery uses. https://github.com/mishoo/UglifyJS2/

You can try it out on http://skalman.github.io/UglifyJS-online/. It's just a light-weight wrapper.

Skalman··on JQuery 2.0 Released
It'll be parsed as HTML in 1.8, but it's a CSS selector in 1.9.
Skalman··on Developer Tools Update – Firefox 22
Okay, nice. Did you also remove the need for clicking those tiny arrows to expand?
Skalman··on Ask HN: Is anyone making money from garbage?
In Sweden garbage creates energy. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2012/10/28/163823839/swe...
Skalman··on Developer Tools Update – Firefox 22
For me the biggest problem is that it doesn't clear upon reload. Having to keep track of which messages/errors came from the previous page is really annoying.

Edit: Also, viewing objects is inferior compared to Chrome's tools.

Skalman··on Firefox 23 will block non-SSL content on SSL pages by default
Firefox 23 will be released on August 6 [1], while Reader closes on July 1 [2].

Skalman··on Don't Copy-Paste from Website to Terminal
At least in Firefox you can prevent sites from blocking the context menu. Preferences -> Content -> [Enable JavaScript] Advanced... -> Disable or replace context menus
Skalman··on Why I'm switching back to Firefox
Firefox has just added private windows (just like incognito in Chrome). It's currently in Firefox beta [1], which will be released on April 2nd.

Skalman··on Ask HN: Webdevs, designers: what devtools should we (Mozilla) build in Firefox?
[Inspector] Support more pseudo selectors where applicable. E.g. :link and :visited for links, :target, :enabled, :disabled, :checked, :indeterminate etc.

[Web Console] Add an option to reset when the page reloads (like Chrome). Perhaps it doesn't even have to be an option, but could be the only way.

[Editing HTML/CSS/JS] I don't have a clear idea, but I don't want to edit code in the browser (my editor is my tool of choice), and would love if I didn't have to refresh to update a resource.

Skalman··on Scrub values in JavaScript live
It doesn't work in Firefox 19.
Skalman··on Pickadate.js
What I would really love is for someone to provide both a date and time picker. For some reason everybody is concerned only about the date.
Skalman··on Microsoft's Skydrive sends two million NULL characters
Nope. The major fix that they did was to eliminate memory leaks in extensions when the user closes a tab.
Skalman··on Re XKCD 936: test the safety of your passphrase entirely in your browser
When testing these kind of experiments I always use a similar password (with similar structure, completely different components and order of components)
Skalman··on Re XKCD 936: test the safety of your passphrase entirely in your browser
I think the thing is that very few non-generated 10-12 char passwords are actually random - they tend to consist of words with simple replacements anyway. So why not use four random English words?
Skalman··on Javascript's NaN
I think "Number" is a better name than "Float". It's a much more common word which I immediately get a feeling for. That typeof NaN === 'number' really makes sense for me, and I feel that most wouldn't need a long explanation to get it either.
Skalman··on Dear Internet: please move the share buttons from the web page to the browser
For people spending their days on Facebook it might be an improvement. It does sound like a huge addon though and I agree that it'd probably be best to make most of that non-default.
Skalman··on Dear Internet: please move the share buttons from the web page to the browser
...and there actually seems to be something going on with regards to sharing in Firefox still. According to [1] it's targeted at Firefox 17, though I haven't noticed anything yet (I'm on Firefox Aurora 17 now). It seems like it has a much broader scope than just sharing.

Skalman··on Dear Internet: please move the share buttons from the web page to the browser
There was an effort to put sharing into Firefox. I'm not sure of the current status - it looks like it may have gone stale.

Skalman··on Stop Using noreply
The post talks about sending personal emails. While that may be possible for smaller companies it doesn't really scale. At some point a company will have to use more automated email.

However, I think that you should really consider whether email is an acceptable means of supporting customers/users. If it is, why not have Reply-To: support@example.com?

It has happened on several occasions that I have questions regarding an incoming email, but it's sent from noreply (with no Reply-To) so I can't respond directly. Instead I have to look for an email address or a form on their website, requiring a long detour.

Skalman··on Analysis of bank PIN numbers
In Sweden I've had pins without duplicated digits.
Skalman··on Lessons for uncultured web developers
In Sweden I've seen d/m-yy or d/m-yyyy used when a year is present, and I still use it when signing contracts, though I am starting to write the first letters of the month instead.
Skalman··on Vanilla JS, fast, lightweight, cross-platform framework
Nope:

TypeError: document.getElementsByTagName("p").filter is not a function

Because you don't get an array, only something array-like.

Skalman··on Typing Practice for Programmers
Wouldn't it be better to have an input field and simply read what has been typed in it? It's not as if you need to have something else focused while doing it. That would eliminate all international keyboard problems in one go, even without a dedicated library.
Skalman··on T-mobile password reset does not allow you to type the letter "V"
"You entered too many characters too quickly."
Skalman··on Tough Title City - A video game in your browser's title bar
In Chrome 18, Opera 12.01 and Firefox 16 I also only get boxes. All on Ubuntu 12.04.
