SixDouble5321··on Google no longer producing high quality search results in significant categories
I am glad you posted this, I wholeheartedly agree.

"Someone should have made this page about [some obscure thing]."

Followed by "I did a bunch of research"

without a "so I created an entry"

SixDouble5321··on Tell HN: AWS appears to be down again
I don't think it's unfair. They aren't the worst villain, but they are up there.
SixDouble5321··on Someone attached an AirTag to my car while I was in a bar
Woman: has something bad happen to her.

Everyone else: gaslight her to infinity or straight up call her a liar.

Not saying it did or didn't happen, but this thread is super toxic.

SixDouble5321··on Someone attached an AirTag to my car while I was in a bar
Ok, but it was fully funded months ago.
SixDouble5321··on Someone attached an AirTag to my car while I was in a bar
Air tags can be persuaded to emit a sound, but they can be modified to prevent it.
SixDouble5321··on Cryptocurrency scams cost owners $7.7B in 2021, driven by DeFi-based “rug pulls”
Just like any currency. Not worth anything in and of itself.
SixDouble5321··on I started a paper website business
That seems to be the point. XD
SixDouble5321··on Terms of Service: Monitoring and Anti-Cheat
If there is no personal information, what is to stop me from creating a new ID? I personally find this idea at least as worrying. I don't want to be having to put my name on a list for every given community I belong to.
SixDouble5321··on How to write idempotent Bash scripts (2019)
I don't want this to sound combative, but maybe you should become more comfortable in bash.

Maybe you don't need portability in your code, but maybe you could use more portability of your skills.

Maybe you can assume that ansible will be on every system you admin, but maybe that will definitely reduce your options and it's possible you don't even know what benefits you are trading by not having the depth.

It's all a big maybe, but maybe some of those people made good trades for the problems they encountered.

Give privacy.com a try my friend and use whatever name you like. You put in your debit card for funds and generate credit cards per merchant.

I never buy anything with my real name anymore.

SixDouble5321··on Bitcoin Drops $9K in an Hour
The classic argument that will never die. It only has value as long as people put value on it. Green paper also has no value, but there seems to be nothing that people won't do to get more...
SixDouble5321··on Show HN: Neko – Self hosted virtual browser that runs in Docker and uses WebRTC
Considering neko translates to cat, it may be the most relevant.
SixDouble5321··on Searchable flight logs from Jeffrey Epstein’s plane
AppSync is a hell of a drug.
SixDouble5321··on The World's Deadliest Thing
Lol, people were just assuming you were using the correct browser for this day and age. Don't be so obtuse.
SixDouble5321··on How Microsoft reduced Windows 11 update size by 40%
Not to diminish package managers, I don't think they are having to be quite as clever as Windows update, at least historically. I could be wrong, but I think they are more like dependency tree managers that also download and execute new installers.
SixDouble5321··on How Microsoft reduced Windows 11 update size by 40%
Historically there were CPU intensive operations, I assume to trade compute time for bandwidth. I am not sure how much of that still exists though since updates have become all-or-nothing blobs.
SixDouble5321··on How Microsoft reduced Windows 11 update size by 40%
That process solves for the problem of only wanting some updates. The new way you get all or nothing. The situation that you bemoan is exceedingly rare by comparison to updating in general. The point is probably moot though in light of the changes to Windows update over the years. There are plenty of reasons to hate on Windows, I think update is one of the few things that works reasonably well. The contents of those updates is another story.
SixDouble5321··on Overly analytical guide to escorting
I think the problem is your idea of the patrons and their reasons for hiring escorts. Maybe it's just me, but "go find someone in a bar" isn't even in the same ballparks.
SixDouble5321··on Twitch source code and customer data has reportedly been leaked
It's more like a legitimately good streamer has to also be attractive to make money as a female. Not the other way around.
SixDouble5321··on IMGZ – Paid image sharing
That and writing software, and I'm assuming motherhood too.
SixDouble5321··on IMGZ – Paid image sharing
If you are concerned about your card there is a link to pay with bitcoin.
SixDouble5321··on Epic launches anti-cheat support for Linux, Mac, and Steam Deck
You mean like they do on windows? It's like gay marriage. Linux users just want a chance to have that thing that everyone else has. Regardless of its merits.
SixDouble5321··on Steam Top 50 Games: Over 70% now work on Linux
Is this about Linux Steam or Steam in Wine? What distro?
SixDouble5321··on Steam Top 50 Games: Over 70% now work on Linux
With the except of games that don't even pretend to work, all of my games perform well. My computer is rather good though. I also play Overwatch through Lutris and that plays just as well as it ever did on Windows.
SixDouble5321··on Steam Top 50 Games: Over 70% now work on Linux
You can be sure that it will cost you time even though it didn't cost any money. If you need the card, attach a CAT5 cable and run the command. If you have unsupported hardware, get supported hardware. It really comes down to how badly you want your freedom.
SixDouble5321··on KrebsOnSecurity Hit by Huge New IoT Botnet “Meris”
The article does mention the Mirai botnet which is made up of light bulbs and DVRs and such.
SixDouble5321··on Show HN: Age 1.0 – Simple, modern and secure file encryption
Sorry if this sounds hostile, but you are not the intended audience.
SixDouble5321··on A generation of American men give up on college
