Sirizarry··on A market mystery: Why do capers come in such tiny jars?
I know it’s a joke but isn’t ikea a Swedish company?
Sirizarry··on Denmark recalls Korean ramen for being too spicy
So because some idiots might want to give themselves ulcers over a competition nobody can buy this now? Hardly seems fair
Sirizarry··on Disabled people tried to play by the rules. It cost them their federal benefits
Depends on the place but plenty of properties I’ve seen are one month in advance. Arguably still rough but not the 3x in advance kind of rough
Sirizarry··on Internet addiction alters brain chemistry in young people, study finds
So they’re using the old gateway drug argument when it comes to “internet addiction”? I thought that whole thing was supposed to be bullocks
Sirizarry··on Voice analysis shows striking similarity between Scarlett Johansson and ChatGPT
I think it’s PR. Don’t know for what or why but nobody I knew, or myself, had even thought of SJ when we saw the videos. Absolutely nobody cared who the voice sounded like the only thing that mattered was that it sounded like it was coming on to you. Very weird tbh
Sirizarry··on Loyalty at work no longer pays – and it's employers who are to blame
You don’t understand, it can’t be MBA types because it’s just the natural progression of the world to become worse and worse. Obvious right? Now sit down and consume.
Sirizarry··on Daily cannabis use overtakes drinking in US first
That’s cool. I’ll keep listening to my friends and family and trusting their word over some angry dude on the internet. Best of luck
Sirizarry··on Daily cannabis use overtakes drinking in US first
Not at all. It’s saying that a lot of people have personal stories about it. This is in combination with scientific studies.
Sirizarry··on MKUltra
I get what you’re getting at but you’re engaging in whataboutism. Just because parts of Europe also did damage to the world does not mean we get to ignore or dismiss what this person is saying especially when it’s pretty on the nose. Firthermore (and I don’t really think it matters regardless), this comment or could be from some small European country that did nothing major and you’re accusing them of a cognitive dissonance that may not exist.
Sirizarry··on How to get 7th graders to smoke
I’m understanding here that cannabis is linked to a higher RISK of crash fatalities not linked to crash fatalities themselves? That’s a very important distinction.
Sirizarry··on Jan Leike Resigns from OpenAI
I agree. I don’t care for and actually dislike most “features“ of AI including and especially chat bots but it’s also none of my business to go and stand on the soap box of my own subjective morality to tell others how to live. If you don’t want people ruining their lives over this, go after root causes not this piddly shit.
Sirizarry··on FTX Has Billions More Than Needed to Pay Bankruptcy Victims
You seem to be missing the concept of consent in your analysis. I’d say it’s pretty foundational.
Sirizarry··on Sony overturns Helldivers 2 PSN requirement following backlash
Yes yes there’s a holocaust, a few wars, plenty of human rights violations, people going hungry, and a bunch of other shit but frankly I don’t care and your holier than thou attitude doesn’t help instill any passion in these topics for me or anyone else reading your comment. Go read ayn rand or some shit
Sirizarry··on Transgenic Golden Rice, once hailed as a dietary breakthrough
He’s not wrong I think. What’s the implication here?
Sirizarry··on Multiple Planes Cross Runway While Another Is Taking Off [video]
Maybe you’re not from the U.S or maybe you’re from a very kind area but I see some serious traffic violation several times a day on most days in my normal commute. This has been across three major cities the last few months.
Sirizarry··on Unreal Engine 5 gains WebGPU support
I’m no game developer but the thought of being able to share unreal engine games without downloading them is really really cool. Thank you for this!
Sirizarry··on Stop Acting Like You're Famous
Your comment certainly fits that bill. Generalizing negativity sure is constructive…
Sirizarry··on What Researchers Discovered When They Sent 80k Fake Résumés to U.S. Jobs
Yes this commenter isn’t racist and frankly I find it sad that they think they are. I grew up a minority in Chicago (admittedly very minority friendly in many ways (except the police)) and saw a lot of racist stuff against a wide variety of ethnicities. None of these moments were millisecond biases or subconscious remarks. Hell I’m probably more biased than this person yet I know for a fact that I am not racist. I hope they figure that out for themselves soon, sounds sad to constantly think of yourself in such a negative way.
Sirizarry··on Xkcd 1928: Seven Years (2017)
Ya gotta work a bit on your empathy there. I think it’s pretty clear that the ellipsis is something more than just an ellipsis to them.
Sirizarry··on Math writing is dull when it neglects the human dimension
I’ve known a few very intelligent maths professionals and although good people, they always struck me as a bit robotic. I know it’s anecdotal and a small sample size but I wouldn’t be surprised if a certain personality is needed to excel and it just happens to be very terse and overly professional. I however also think that that’s a big reason I never got into advanced mathematics in the first place. I can’t stand terse and overly professional material. I get bored much too easily.
Sirizarry··on Schiphol conducts trial with self-driving buses on airside
Never heard of schipol. I’m sure there are many things I think are very famous that you’ve never heard of as well. World is big yadda yadda I think two words to explain what a schipol was would be nice is all
Sirizarry··on Startup founder wants to sell cocaine
Will someone think of the children??

There’s a lot of misinformation and fear around recreational drug use but the reality is people really like to use them! Hollywood can certainly be used for propaganda but I believe more often than not they’re simply reflecting the popular attitudes of the day.

Hard drugs are dangerous. Hard drugs are fun! Just don’t be an idiot, make good friends, and enjoy the trip.

Sirizarry··on First 'cyberflasher' convicted under UK's new law, gets more than 5 years prison
Probation is a privilege that a prisoner needs to apply for. It could be argued that even though he was previously convicted perhaps he didn’t know the exact consequences and so leniency can be given. However, by violating probation, he has proven to be intentionally malicious and a danger to society even more so then before. I think a few extra years for that is definitely justified
Sirizarry··on 8h time-restricted eating linked to a 91% higher risk of cardiovascular death
What makes you say that? The first time I even heard of IF they were recommending 8 hours a day. I know there are different formats but 8 was definitely within IF
Sirizarry··on JWT confirms something is seriously wrong with our understanding of the universe
It’s okay, I had a good chuckle
Sirizarry··on Boeing overwrote surveillance footage of door plug repair
It’s incredible, I’ve installed camera systems for pizza parlors and they wanted footage saved for up to 6 months! Boeing is just malicious
Sirizarry··on Rimworld: Anomaly expansion and update 1.5 announced
I like the sound of this expansion. Although it won’t make the game “scary” it’ll be fun to do some real nightmare (for my colonists) scenarios!
Sirizarry··on DMCA Notices Took Down 20,517 GitHub Projects Last Year
It only stops honest people from making “mistakes”. Anyone with the desire to abuse these frankly stupid copyright laws can and will do so
Sirizarry··on One fan spent three years saving a Final Fantasy game before it shut down
Then update the copyright laws? A book itself is an experience but we have no such illusions that they’ll fade away and become inaccessible because of the publishing house, why the change in attitude here?
Sirizarry··on I Am the Magpie River: How a Quebec river became a person under local law
Why?
