I remember everyone hating google talk when it first came out. No one liked Google news when it first came out either.
There is no guarantees but give it six months to a year before you're 100% sure it's dead.

It's very hard to get a logo to look both freehand/scribly as well as professional. Either you need to do a mot more research in to how other have done good freehand script well or just stick with a typeface.
Perhaps the name could be all one typeface and you could have a more hand drawn icon to go with the logo.
either way the logo needs work.
good luck!
At flugpo we are building a craigslist competitor that has better everything. But it's hard to get a large foothold anywhere with out being able to focus on a market and work at it for a long time.
Unless your businesses is blogging perhaps your efforts are better spent elsewhere.
A lot of the stuff you want to do is in the "standard" but you need 3 or 4 browsers to all implement it and do it in the same way before it counts as being truly an option.
sad but true. I often forget that such a large % of web designer are kinda crap when it comes to the technology that they design for. It's like painting with out brushes. You need to know the medium you work in.
There are plenty of CSS workgroups that can explain why CSS does or doesn't do something. As frustrating as the slow pace of CSS advancement goes they do have smart people trying to do their best to set world wide standards.
Yeah. CSS can be hard for a programmer. It kinda should. You should be programing. I do CSS all day every day and what ever issues CSS have I've long since learned how to work around them to the point where I forget what most of the big bugs are.
I find programing a little daunting sometimes. I don't say it needs to be made easier. If any one can learn programing in a couple hours it probably would not be as powerful.
I think boxes will be around for a long time. Servers. Custom made systems.
But as a consumer devise it's been in trouble for a while.
All I know is a as a designer at a startup I almost never use photoshop. I use a pen and then I do mockups in HTML, CSS, and javascript. It's definitely the fastest way for web applications.
I think at the way low end you mostly get very inexperienced people who have little to no experience oftain coupled with little to no skill. They may commit to a price but can't deliver on quality. It doesn't seem worth it to waste the money here. Just have your developer do something.
At the mid range there are still a lot of unskilled people but there are now skilled people as well. Here are the people you need to find. Because they are going to be able to deliver something quality and worth paying for. But they are not doing to be able to match the skills of best designed sites.
The high price range there are still the same match of good and bad. the good are really good. Best in the business. The bad are from the mid range or below that are super confident or really audacious.
It's hard to pick out the good ones even though interview in my opinion. you really need a large list of references to get a feel for the "company".
Hiring locally could be really good.. In general I think it's hard to find some one with an application portfolio though. Most are advertisement websites and it can be hard to gauge if their portfolio match your values.
Most UI jobs I see are either salary or long term contract. but I might be biased as that is what I look for.
to a point. While design can often have a rang of price there can be a clear difference between paying some one a living wage and not. This number can vary international but it's good to know what is considered a professional wage abroad.
Also price can have a high correlation to experience. More experience is good if you care about the details but many rather stay cheap.
the design field is changing and there is a lot of price fluctuation and it can be hard as a company to gauge if a company is worth the price. But to say there is little correlation is a little misleading.
