Rodeoclash··on Zod v4 Beta
We stuck with Yup and ignored Joi, Zod and god knows what else has come down the pipeline since. Rather than wasting time upgrading, we've instead built useful features.

That said, we are slowly phasing out our React frontend for one of our apps page by page and replacing it with what we use over the rest of apps: Phoenix + Liveview. The changeset system for validations has proven itself time and time again to both be fast but also to handle many of the curly validation problems we might have. It also has barely changed since its release.

If you have a disciplined frontend team then you might be able to make it work. They have to be able to ignore the latest shiny thing that has come along, but if you don't then you'll have a team that is busy constantly upgrading to the latest shiny library rather than getting anything done.

Rodeoclash··on Federal cuts disrupt repairs to iconic U.S. trails
As an Australian I would avoid any travel to the US at the moment. Especially after reading about the MMA coach who got detained and jailed on entry to the country.

It's one thing to be denied entry and put on a plane back to your original country, entirely another to be put into federal prison for an indefinite amount of time before being sent back.

America clearly doesn't want visitors at the moment.

Rodeoclash··on Ask HN: As a Founder, is this business model compelling?
This exactly. People are already trying to do this and judging by the sales techniques they use to approach me (spam emails) I don't want anything to do with them!
Rodeoclash··on Microsoft employees recall their early years
I worked in a digital technology company in Wellington in the 90s and one of our key technologies that we sold was a hosted form on a secure (remember, this is the era that https was not common) website to collect credit card payments. We were a proto Stripe in the year 1999 but totally in the wrong place in the world to take advantage of it.
Rodeoclash··on Tell HN: Announcing tomhow as a public moderator
Tom, what a small world. Seems just like yesterday we were at Inspire 9 together!
Rodeoclash··on Italy demands Google poison DNS under strict Piracy Shield law
Shh, don't give them ideas!
Rodeoclash··on California Attorney General issues consumer alert for 23andMe customers
Governments often round people up based on some criteria. Unless something has changed that I don't know about, I don't see why this won't happen again.

The salute he did on stage was false?
Rodeoclash··on Tesla Sales Fall Off a Cliff Globally, Including Germany, Australia, and China
Anecdotal but I just purchased an Atto3 in Melbourne. Tesla wasn't even considered after Musk's behaviour and the value for money that the BYD provides.

The reason I brought the Atto3 was after talking to 4 or 5 Uber drivers with them who swore by them.

Rodeoclash··on Egg prices are soaring. Are backyard chickens the answer?
Probably cost previously, certainly ideology now
Rodeoclash··on Ilya Sutskever's startup in talks to fundraise at roughly $20B valuation

Rodeoclash··on Waymo to test its autonomous driving technology in over 10 new cities
They can charge more in Melbourne and I'll happily pay it to avoid drivers that cancel the trip after accepting or accept the trip and drive away from me until I cancel.
Rodeoclash··on PhysicsForums and the Dead Internet Theory
The ShackNews forum: https://www.shacknews.com/chatty was similar - go back in time on on it and you can find posts about 9/11 unfolding.
Rodeoclash··on Results of "Humanity's Last Exam" benchmark published
Even simpler, ask it to reason through getting out of an escape room.
Rodeoclash··on Mastercard DNS error went unnoticed for years
Yes, please just read the numbers out to me on the phone so I can confirm who you are...

Rodeoclash··on Six day and IP address certificate options in 2025
Is it possible for you to run Caddy as a reverse proxy in front of your services? I've done this in the past and it really is set and forget when it's configured correctly.
Rodeoclash··on Disco Elysium Explorer
I loved the way that you'd pass encyclopedia checks in the game and it would give you totally irrelevant information. I think at one point a character tells you she's using a contact mic and the skill check informs you about a boxer called "Contact Mike".
Rodeoclash··on Do Kwon pleads not guilty to US fraud charges in $40B crypto collapse
This is an astounding level of "logical" jumps.

As for why the government is doing this, it's very beneficial for the US to demonstrate its long arm of the law as a lesson to other criminals.

Rodeoclash··on I am rich and have no idea what to do
Correct, because only by having money can most people understand the situation. You've proven this yourself by calling it "a load".

Zen monks have attained this understanding without the need to make the money first however.

Rodeoclash··on I am rich and have no idea what to do
100% - it takes away your hope. In this case, that by "making it" in the world of startups will fill the void in your life.
Rodeoclash··on How to Create Intelligently Self-Modifying Software (Framework Release Soon)
A fun piece of fiction I think. However, if I'm wrong, I look forward to my brief existence as a paper clip analogue when this framework is released!
Rodeoclash··on London's 850-year-old food markets to close
Yes, although it sounds like Preston has / is / will be at risk from developers that own the land and want to build apartments.

The thing about markets like this is that once they're gone, you can never get them back again. My home town, Wellington, shut down the markets at some point in the distant past and have been trying to restart them in the more recent past to little success (think a bunch of cars parked in an uncovered car park trying to sell vegetables).

Rodeoclash··on Man arrested for attempting to destroy Nashville power site
Entrapment is specifically inducing a person to commit a crime they wouldn't normally commit, e.g. by coercing them to do it.

Without knowing any details about this case, this could be true, however it sounds like he was quite willing to go ahead with the purchase of the C4 to destroy the infrastructure.

Rodeoclash··on Bill Atkinson doxxed Douglas Adams in 1987
Taking this on a tangent, but an awesome easter egg in that scene is the Terminators other finger is pointing to an entry for "John Connor" in the same phone book.
Rodeoclash··on Why Tech Employees Are Ready to Revolt
Exactly, or spending all day arguing why master shouldn't be renamed to main so they can pay themselves on the back for fighting against "Woko Haram"!
Rodeoclash··on Weird Nonfiction
Nothing else to add except this was an exceptionally well written piece.
Rodeoclash··on A Post-Google World?
We should create non-profit versions of each of the archetype sites that exist. Reddit (forums), Twitter, Search, Email hosting should all have non profit versions ala Wikipedia.
