Rackedup··on Using the same Arch Linux installation for a decade

that's what I meant by breaking

Rackedup··on Using the same Arch Linux installation for a decade
How often did the upgrade process broke? I've been using it for a few years and it broke a few times... but overall very happy.

Rackedup··on American Airlines agrees to purchase Boom Supersonic Overture aircraft
> When reading the original title, I had the impression that the company was going to be acquired by AA.

Same... at least they should put an S to aircraft... but then again maybe they hit the strict character limit...

Rackedup··on Tesla's 'full self-driving' feature may have finally met its match
> Waymo, the self-driving subsidiary of Google's parent company, stopped using the term "self-driving" in 2021, saying that misuse by other automakers [Tesla] was giving the public a false impression of its capabilities.
Rackedup··on How and why I built Japan Dev
japan-dev.com requires javascript to show any text... I guess it makes sense since they want to show us that popup...
Rackedup··on HTTP/3 over QUIC Support for Amazon CloudFront
I don't like the unencrypted tracking ID that comes with QUIC (thanks Google)
Rackedup··on Taco Bell Programming
So many companies think that the Taco Bell way is the wrong way and that cloud with a bunch of proprietary services is the only way.
Rackedup··on Android 13
I gained nothing by upgrading from Android 11 to Android 12... actually I don't like it as much. Hope 13 is better.

That's great
Rackedup··on Ask HN: Are Linux HowTos dead? Why?
Yeah it's been a while since I consulted a leggit HOWTO... I think that HOWTOs get created by volunteers all over the web nowadays.
Rackedup··on Poll: What's Wrong with Spreadsheets?
billions of rows?
Rackedup··on Autodesk criticised by 35 named architects (2020)
Blender is really nice but it isn't super easy to always get non-destructive/permanent modifications (but there might always be a way).
Rackedup··on Poll: What's Wrong with Spreadsheets?
The only thing wrong is probably that spreadsheets can't handle huge amounts of data.
Rackedup··on NSA's Warrantless Wiretaps (2012)
Do you know that there is about 33 intelligence agencies in the US alone?

Rackedup··on Alleged Tornado Cash developer arrested in Amsterdam
I just don't understand how this is considered money laundering... this is coin laundering and it isn't regulated, as far as I know. The people will still have to explain where the cash comes from when they convert coins to cash?

Rackedup··on Ask HN: How about a modern phone that actually lasts?
I'm still using a Pixel 3 with LineageOS on it. I just wish that I never upgraded to Android 12... Android 11 was a bit better. The main thing is the drop down icons were not so huge (Wi-Fi, Location, etc).
Rackedup··on Tell HN: Reddit mandatory login to see sensitive pages
First they removed a lot of useful features from Firefox.

Then tell us we should implement them as an addon.

Then handicap addons. <- now

Then remove addons. <- future

Sounds a bit like "embrace, extend and extinguish"...

Note: I switched to Firefox when it came out because of addons...

I don't think that it is only available only on nightly anymore: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-use-collections-add...
Rackedup··on Tell HN: Reddit mandatory login to see sensitive pages
The Firefox addon is called Old Reddit Redirect ... but there is also Redirector which is a more generic redirector, for any websites and patterns. But to be able to use them on Firefox Android, you have to use an addon collection.
Rackedup··on Tell HN: Reddit mandatory login to see sensitive pages
> Unfortunately it's not compatible with newer Firefox android .

I'm using it on Firefox Android... Mozilla just made it hard to use most addons. You have to create an addon collection, add the extensions that you want to it, and then use that collection on Firefox Android: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-use-collections-add...

Rackedup··on Arrest of suspected developer of Tornado Cash
I think that they are doing this purely to hurt crypto. They keep adding new laws when they see an opportunity where crypto could become more useful... it's like a frog in a warming pot.

Rackedup··on PGPP (Pretty Good Phone Privacy) Beta Launch
A service with throwaway numbers would be nice... a lot like https://www.emailnator.com/ does for email. But it would be even better if they wouldn't require a phone number or email.
