RHSman2··on Twenty, a modern CRM alternative to Salesforce
If it was SAP they would have rubbed their hands.
RHSman2··on Twenty, a modern CRM alternative to Salesforce
AND trying to get out of SAP shark lock in!!!

The future is bright elsewhere

RHSman2··on Twenty, a modern CRM alternative to Salesforce
Ex Siebel here. Got out into ‘real’ engineering at the time of Salesforce’s rise with that as a backup plan.

Now fighting to keep Salesforce out of company. Shiny RFP’s of a horizontal service that doesn’t do much that well but appeals to execs.

RHSman2··on Understanding the neuroscience behind burnout (2022)
What we struggle with is emotions and removing them from who we are.

It is very, very subtle but oh so simple (but not easy)

RHSman2··on Managing my motivation as a solo dev
Jocko’s and Goggins are good examples of it. And to be taken with a pinch of healthy salt

To achieve stuff you have to have something that enables you to do it. Call that motivation/discipline or whatever but the ‘ball has to roll’

RHSman2··on Managing my motivation as a solo dev
I have found there is only one way to get a zero ‘time’. Extreme exercise or activity. Something that requires my whole being to attend too.

Heavy weights, high intensity workouts or something that has the mental requirement like climbing.

Then the chemicals give a reset and I’d return to the subject.

I’d think of them as activity naps.

RHSman2··on Managing my motivation as a solo dev
Yes. I would have Monte Carlo simulation dreams that seem to prime my brain around the subject. But completely stupid and never based on the truth.

Not good sleep but I would seem to be more ‘tuned’ in on the subject.

RHSman2··on Wasp-193B, a giant planet with a density similar to that of cotton candy
I beg to differ. In a trillion plus rocks floating in a vacuum and we colonize this one, I don’t see why candy flos planets controlled by beings is so far fetched.

We have Bluetooth toasters!

RHSman2··on Wasp-193B, a giant planet with a density similar to that of cotton candy
We exist, therefore it is proven.

Btw, we are nature, so you are right. We are the problem.

How very well explained
RHSman2··on Spending an afternoon in the Sizewell control-room simulator
I used to swim near it. It is indeed warmer and I have had no issues (other than my natural personality )
RHSman2··on Cliff Stoll, the mad scientist who wrote the book on how to hunt hackers (2019)
I doubt there is a true representation of life. Life is a product of the things.

People compare 80’s with now. They are not the same and humans alter around the stimulus.

RHSman2··on The Oregon Outback International Dark Sky Sanctuary
I’m lucky enough to live somewhere that gives me regular, clear and dark views of the cosmos. I think it changes you as a human.

A child is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves to help us be the ‘best’ versions of ourselves. Good luck on the 2nd part of life.

“ There are dozens of ways a glob of plasma can wobble, bend, or break apart: like a kinked garden hose, a fan, or even a sausage. ” I read this very differently.

It’s fun being the hero, till it isn’t. Balancing one’s natural behavior with burnout is definitely a skill.
RHSman2··on NASA's Webb depicts structure in 19 nearby spiral galaxies
I am lucky enough to live in a place that I can see the night sky as it should be. It takes time to be able ‘see’ the Milky Way. And what made it easy to understand was seeing andromeda through binoculars.

Realising that if I was in andromeda looking back at the Milky Way it would look the same. I could then understand that I wasn’t looking at the Milky Way, but part of it and looking out.

Really grounded me.

RHSman2··on Why flying insects gather at artificial light
Human curiosity. Embrace it for its nature, not the end goal.
