I am truly appreciate for the time and effort it most have taken you and I am looking forward to your part II & III.
"The internet" (datanet 1 in my case, growing up in Holland) was a complete different beast: everyone was scrambling to figure stuff out, there where no limits, no hierarchy, no unwritten rules, just an endless space to figure out and to share experiences and hypotheses.
Never lost interest in the airwaves since they are my first love, but never spend more then some after-hours on it. The ham people I've met over the years that I found to do interesting stuff, seem to border legal experiments (with a new found interest for pretty powerful (mobile) shortwave radios since recently).
Getting my money back from google is impossible, according to google. Since they could not offer a solution to the language issue, they told me 4 times to complain at apple and try to get my money back from them.
Again: that was not my issue at al. The time it took to dialog with google support was 10 times as expensive as the rent for the movie anyway. I wanted my expectations to be met, was told that it's impossible, so I adjusted my exceptions when being offered to buy / rent from YT to zero.
"Based on my location" they gave me a French dubbed version of it. No alternative sound track, heck not even subtitles.
I live in Switzerland, we have 4 official languages. I speak one of them: German. Not a word French. The proposed solution: go to apple and ask for your money back. Very poor experience.
Do not even get me going on the "want to use Premium for a month"? I've declined that offer at least 48 times. Did not want it then, do not want it today. Really a pity since there is a lot of cool (not sponsored or monitized) content.
Always thought a continent was a clearly defined.
Since I have had the opportunity to raise my kids, I have grown tremendously as a manager: I have learned to forgive and to stand fast. To allow for slack and to demand relentlessness. To treat people as individuals (you might have guessed I work in IT where rather exquisite characters seem to flourish) and learn them to enjoy the results of our efforts as a team.
Loads of seemingly contradictional qualities that are required from parents and very easily translate to people management.
Basically I see my role as a temporary one: you are here with me since we need each other to reach some goal, and then we will both move on. This might be short-term or long, but we will separate and I will do my utmost best to become a better person / employee / employer over time, as I will do my utmost best to let you grow and fore fill yourself.
Oh and I will try to be having a good time while doing that, since I have ran out of time to suffer for no reason but suffering.
People don't quit jobs, they quit a boss.
Makes a lot of sense, thanks.
Safari expects me to "arrow right" or my (more or less) carefully crafted search will be auto removed (since the text will be "selected"). I fall for this x times per day (probably says more about me then about safari). Chrome will allow me to move to one of the suggestions and happily append my text without the need to "deselect" the text.
But there are more "usability" issues with Safari:
Why is the "x" to close a tab, on the left instead of right? Why do I need to press the ALT key to get the option to open a link in private mode (after a right click on the link)? Why can I not drag a URL to a bookmark folder directly? Why can I not re-attach a browser window as a tab in an open window?
Me neither.
manOS Catalina, Version 10.15.5. Safari Version 13.1.1 (15609.2.9.1.2)
EDIT: Still can't get used to Safari's URL completion behaviour. It is completely unnatural and hard to feel as useful, unlike chrome's which is very handy and behaves like I expect.
Weirdest thing is that an add-on makes it faster, how's that even possible without a serious MiTB problem?
The content is not that great and the plain text does nothing to make it feel technical coherent or valuable.
It helps me getting away from the drive to 'just give it a shot' and forces me to work so much more structured.
I still love to doodle with a pen and different color markers and it allows me to have it permanently in view on my desk with the option to add boxes and arrows as required.
Much more intel, better performance and a better UI.
No affiliation, just a fan since day one.
