I'm giving AI access to file system commands...
Sam/OpenAI, Google, and Claude met at a park, everyone left their phones in the car.
They took a walk and said "We are all losing money, if we secretly degrade performance all at the same time, our customers will all switch, but they will all switch at the same time, balancing things... wink wink wink"
Further, I know it goes against economic orthodoxy, but I am a big fan of buying low and selling high. When the market is bad, I become more frugal, I might even run on debt instead of selling. When the market is at all time highs, I'll sell some from riskier and move that into other things.
Another oddity in this situation... People die slightly more often during flu season, so you could game this and plan to withdraw less.
I think about my lab classes and typically these were separate credit hours. More money to the university. Outside chemistry, we were using outdated equipment that wasn't getting refreshed/bought new.
If what you are saying is true, Humanities needs to cut costs of their credit hours or double down. For entertainment degrees (art, music), its prohibitively expensive to casually obtain the education. For business/politics/psychology, there is at least some sort of return on investment to be expected.
From there, Nintendo relied on gimmicks and corporate mascots/IP.
I guess sega was a few years ahead of them on their own timeline.
But the parents are doing lots of unappreciated work here.
/parent here
Fancy RAM doesn't mean much when you are just using it for facebook. Oh I guess you can pretend to use Local LLMs on HN too.
Mac expectations in a nutshell lmao
I already knew this because we tried doing it at an enterprise level, but it makes me well aware nothing has changed in the last year.
We are not talking about the same things. You are talking about "Teknickaly possible". I'm talking about useful.
Its not very long, but I use this in my daily life:
https://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/3207/pg3207-images.html...
I also use the 12 bullet points before that on Power.
If I wear nice stuff to the park with the kids, I'm noticed. If I wear raggy gym clothes, I'm ignored.
My best guess is that comfortable clothes are necessary but you also need something high value in addition. New shoes or expensive outerwear that 'your wife bought'.
Everyone else wore a polo... This guy genuinely didn't care. He was making $500/hr and didn't really want to be there. He was begged. He did some weird stuff with sticky notes on $100k molds... (and he didn't solve our problem).
But you knew this guy was an expert.
I'm 100% with you on that one. Minus the confusion. Yeah web 3 was so dumb. Blockchain for a non-rewritable database? lmaoooo
I have 4 of these now, some are better than others. But all worked great.
There is novelty, but not practical use case.
My $700, 2023, 3060 laptop runs 8B models. At the enterprise level we got 2, A6000s.
Both are useful and were used for economic gain. I don't think you have gotten any gain.
You could change the standards. If any of the 4 fail, then reject the data.
This is how I know something is fishy.
No one cares about this. This became a new benchmark when Apple couldn't compete anywhere else.
I understand if you already made the mistake of buying something that doesn't perform as well as you were expecting, you are going to look for ways to justify the purchase. "It runs with little power" is on 0 people's christmas list.
I'm sure it can do 2+2= fast
After that? No way.
There is a reason NVIDIA is #1 and my fortune 20 company did not buy a macbook for our local AI.
What inspires people to post this? Astroturfing? Fanboyism? Post Purchase remorse?
At 80B, you could do 2 A6000s.
What device is 128gb?
Did your sarcasm include that sentence?
If not, I suggest you stop doom scrolling. You don't really believe this? That would be wild.
But also, imaginary tokens are really really valuable. I'm sure there are normal-ish people with ~100-1000 bitcoin, let alone a few of the outspoken people who are bitcoin billionaires.
The real solution is to have 4 AI answer and let the human decide. If all 4 say the same thing, easy. If there is disagreement, further analysis is needed.
But yeah I don't think its anything too surprising about buying exploits and packaging them.
I think the article is more of a commentary on how these companies can exist in the open, where as a teenage hacker goes to jail for stuff like this.
I only know pegasus broke iOS.
I find it interesting that Apple has spun Lockdown mode from a 'we are terrible at security' into a feature for marketing.
Now when someone gets hacked Apple can say: "Well they weren't in lockdown mode, its their own fault."
Gosh I wish I was as good at marketing as Apple. They really need to sell their marketing team as a service. If they did that, I'd buy their stock outright.
In China, it can be illegal to even talk about changing the status quo.
When I see people on the internet saying things like: "Yeah screw the US, we just made a deal with China!" I wonder how oblivious they are to the domestic conditions in China.
Why hasnt this been used for stealing Crypto?
Is there evidence Android OS has been compromised? (I know Samsung phones had an issue)
Is there any evidence a Fedora, Debian-family, or linux has been compromised?
Anyway, Fedora is sooo good. :D
Marketing.
