That was wishful thinking in 2008 and the result was Crimean invasion a few years later.
Please brush your history knowledge. Pretty please.
So somebody would imagine that he will publish Russian data as well, to make Russian capitalism more free and ethical...
Because they're following Soviet playbooks. And if they'll create enough FUD they will be able to freely annex neighbouring countries.
For example, Babiy Yar (a place in Kiev where Germans killed tens of thousands) was a garbage dump until 1970-s.
Or (which is ironic, given their "Nothing is forgotten, nobody is forgotten" motto) - they didn't search for the fallen soldiers. Probably because they feared that there will be too many Soviet medallions compared to Germa ones...
It is still true for _native_ Russians, not Russian-based immigrants from neighbouring states.
That's still repercussions of calling Russia the whole USSR.
Now most post-Soviet republic are kind of shadowed.
If only USSR didn't enter WW2 on Hitler's side...
`mvn --help` gives you a list of commands too.
This is like saying 'Javascript is unusable without IDEs', you know.
Looks like they're beginning to rewrite it. "Russian state is 1000-years old", "Russia singlehandedly won WW2" and so on.
Combined with "Westerners are evil" rhetoric it helps keep population under control.
Because, you know, Russia is trailing waaay behind US in GDP.
And if we will take a look at military spending in % of GDP, Russia actually spends _more_ than US.

Insanely complex apps on a buggy foundation? What could possibly go wrong...
As an ex-Soviet citizen - you're very wrong.
And for innovations vs copying - most of the Soviet industries were based on copies from "decadent West" (legal or illegal).
But definitely not science and hardly fiction (as in fiction books).
They're in same category as Twin Peaks or Lost - an unencumbered and hardly explained flights of imagination.
You know, if they wouldn't try to capture Iran for themselves, they wouldn't be threatened with nuclear attacks.
Don't portrait USSR or Russia as purely innocent entities.
PS and invasion by Britain (if you're talking about Crimean war) was after Russian Empire broke the treaty by attacking Turkey.
