Yeah XAML layouts have always seemed so much cleaner than any CSS layout system. Was hoping that css-grid would have gained more traction over flex.

Given the choice, I'd choose XAML over HTML/CSS for app layout/design in a heartbeat.

I think it all goes back to what each language was designed for and people hacking things into HTML/CSS to get it do things it wasn't designed for.

It should be pointed out the 'Shock and Disbelief' re: this shortage wasn't about the more publicized shortage of public IPv4 addresses but about a shortage of private RFC1918 IPv4 addresses within the company. Something that most people probably take for granted due to NATs etc...

OniBaiton Windows 10 Design: Getting the balance right

I tried Windows 10 on both my desktop and tablet. I went back to Windows 8 on the tablet because the UI was horrible for tablet.

If anything, I think the pendulum swung back too much the other direction. There are a lot of UI decisions they made that make the experience with a tablet device painful. For example, the decision to get rid of the Charms Bar (in Tablet Mode) was a horrible one. A lot "Metro" apps don't really run full-screen anymore. Edge Browser isn't nearly as nice of an experience as full screen IE was (with the swipe gestures for page forward/back navigation).

On the desktop though, it has been quite nice to use...

Sure, but IE 7 predated Chrome by 2 years. I'm not sure how IE 7 which has a global browser share roughly equivalent to Chrome 11, Firefox 3.6, Android 2.3 and Blackberry 7 has any relevance.

What does IE have to do with this? Wasn't the whole anti-table movement a response to the abuse of <table>, <tr>, <td> HTML tags for layout? I can't think of any particular issue with Internet Explorer and display:table...

That would've been a bit hard to do seeing as how the endurance test has been running for over a year. Even with SSDs, 1.5 petabytes of reads/writes takes a while to write.
