Nimsical··on RocksDB vs. the world
So... we should all move to MySQL+Rocks?

Sounds like it's 2005 all over again!

Nimsical··on Show HN: Suto – Expert advice on products via SMS
A lot of times, folks who don't know much about a certain industry just don't know what to look for. It's also a rather lengthy process.

I'm super interested to hear what / how you do product search! Feel free to shoot me an email at nima@asksuto.com if you're up for a quick chat!

Nimsical··on Show HN: Suto – Expert advice on products via SMS
We came up with it b/c we did the same thing – spend hours researching and asking friends (who were experts in a specific field) to find the right product.

We want Suto to be that friend you have that just know about all the best products in the world.

Hey!

Thanks for the feedback, I just realized that the feed is still there on mobile. We were supposed to take it out (mainly because we wanted to give some more relevant examples instead).

Hope you enjoy the answer that's about to come your way!

Hey HN - I'm one of the creators of Suto. I created it because I needed to buy a projector and spent hours researching the best projectors and still couldn't make a decision. I finally asked my friend who knows a lot about projectors, and he gave me a super simple answer. So I thought it would be cool to have a friend like that for everything.

Would love to hear your feedback on Suto's helpfulness/experience, or any questions you have!

Nimsical··on Show HN: Scaling PostgreSQL on Amazon RDS using pg_shard
Very cool. pg_shard is a key module for scaling PG – big fan!
Nimsical··on Open-Source Data Explorer by Keen IO
We have something like this built in-house on top of Keen already. Great to know that we can now use this to put it in our analytics dashboards to help w/ ad-hoc analysis.

Are you going to be maintaining this with the one you have in your web-app? Seems like it would make a lot of sense.

Nimsical··on Ask HN: Did your YC (or other incubator) startup fail? What are you doing now?
We failed early 2013. I was the founding engineer, but ended up doing Product Management at http://frankandoak.com after.

Engineering -> Business oriented role was the easiest thing I could think of.

Nimsical··on Nutrition/Fitness trackers – no clear winner. Partner up
Jawbone UP has had me wake up earlier in the morning pretty well in the past few week though. I've gotta give them that.
