Now if FreeBSD (or indeed illumos) would get CUDA-support we could stop using linux for GPU nodes too.

Solaris/illumos has been able to do actual "containers" since 2004[0] and FreeBSD has had jails even before that[1].

FreeBSD has linuxulator and illumos comes with lx-zones that allow running some native linux binaries inside a "container". No idea why Apple didn't go for similar option.
The gold standard being RME hardware and drivers. Not a single issue ever on windows.

This is extremely worrying. There already is enough linux monoculture in critical network infrastructure due every manufacturer except Juniper seemingly putting their penguin eggs into one basket. I can only hope there will be some common sense brewing for the future before linux experiences major failure and Pluto's Kiss starts to feel a bit too real for comfort.
