NedIsakoff··on Australia May Be the World’s Most Secretive Democracy
"To say it is the natural way of things is, in my eyes, completely ignorant. If that were the case we wouldn't have seen numerous people's revolts throughout the entirety of human history [1]." - It is natural, people want authoritarianism naturally. They just want the authoritarian rules or person to follow their point of view or agenda. Look at the list and see how many replaced one authoritarian with another authoritarian. Or the resolution was authoritarian.

"You say both say people want one thing, while contradicting that statement and saying people have different points of views and agendas - so we don't all want one thing? It could well be most or a few or some or a minority want authoritarianism; but the only constant I can see in governments throughout history and modern society is their inconsistency." -- I never said everyone wanted one thing. My comment was that most people would prefer a more authoritarian government that agreed with their point of view or agenda.

NedIsakoff··on Australia May Be the World’s Most Secretive Democracy
"Authoritarianism aligned with $my_ideology is a terrible thing, but it does seem like a fair number people would actually be most comfortable with that and liberal democracy is just a token, socially acceptable icon." -- This is expressing my ideas better then what I wrote. Although from their point of view it may not be terrible.
NedIsakoff··on Australia May Be the World’s Most Secretive Democracy
I've always said that freedom (liberalism) and democracy is actually unnatural. People do not want freedom and democracy, they want authoritarianism that favor their point of view or agenda. The problem is that we have different points of view or agendas.

Example: Look at New Zealand after the mass mosque shooting. People support the actions taking which include banning owning or reading the guy's manifesto. Owning it means up to 10 years in jail and/or up to $50,000 in fines.

NedIsakoff··on Outcry as Australian police search public broadcaster

NedIsakoff··on Amazon shareholders reject facial recognition ban
At the same time China is producing more banned CFC, no one is doing anything.
NedIsakoff··on Amazon shareholders reject facial recognition ban
At the time there was no alternative to IBM and their technology. Same can be said of Dow Chemicals.

Now there is competitors. Alibaba Cloud and Tencent Cloud will gladly help anyone with facial recognition . See how evil America refuse to help you with your needs? We will because we care about your needs, China will support you.

NedIsakoff··on Sandberg: FB Shouldn't be Broken Up, or else Chinese Companies will Dominate
I meant that as internationally.

Alibaba and Tencent is having major growth in the Asia markets faster than North American companies. You have to ask why that is, and the answer is that they're more willing to help the country their moving to. Look at the backlash that Amazon and Google is seeing from their employees when they try to sell surveillance to the government. Having worked at Tencent, I assure you that no one will object when they sell WeChat and WeChat tracking to Malaysia or Indonesia or Saudi Arabia.

NedIsakoff··on Sandberg: FB Shouldn't be Broken Up, or else Chinese Companies will Dominate
The reason why U.S. business is more successful is that we have been pushing internationally for longer. As Chinese businesses expand internationally (typo: internally) they are out competing US companies on price and services. Once it has market share, it will raise prices.
NedIsakoff··on Sandberg: FB Shouldn't be Broken Up, or else Chinese Companies will Dominate
Is it wrong thou? I don't see the Chinese Government breaking up Alibaba or Tencent.

NedIsakoff··on Downloading Game of Thrones may hide dangerous malware
Okay, I am confused here but perhaps I'm missing something. It's a TV show right? So if you download something wouldn't it be an AVI file or a MKV file. How do you do malware in an AVI or MKV file?
NedIsakoff··on In Venezuela, life has gone from bad to worse. And the world has quit noticing
I think he based it on reality rather than theory. Every communist government has use force to "maintain the revolution": USSR, Cuba, Venezuela, DPRK, China, Romania, etc.
NedIsakoff··on In Venezuela, life has gone from bad to worse. And the world has quit noticing
A wise leader once said: All things grow out of the barrel of a gun. According to the Marxist theory of the state, the army is the chief component of state power. Whoever wants to seize and retain state power must have a strong army.
NedIsakoff··on The Mysterious Disappearance of Fan Bingbing, the World’s Biggest Movie Star
She pissed off the government by using 'yin-yang contracts' which is both illegal and tax evasion. Of course she's not the only one doing it, but she is the most famous actress in China.

They probably have her in an re-education center. She's also being made an example off to make the other actors/actresses more honest and take less salary for social stability.

Basically by law in China, only 40% of a movie's budget can be for actors/actresses. A max of 70% of the 40% for actors/actresses can be paid to a single actor/actresses. But you have these huge stars like Fan Bingbing who wants more, so what do you do? You have two contracts, an official one with lower salary that is also reported to the government and an unofficial one that's really how much they are paid.

NedIsakoff··on Finland’s Basic Income Experiment Shows Recipients Are Happier and More Secure
That's one of my points I always make when people mention UBI experiments. The other one is the amount is too low. I have never been to Finland, but can someone there comment on this: can you live on 560 euros a month without some other income or assistance?
NedIsakoff··on Finland’s Basic Income Experiment Shows Recipients Are Happier and More Secure
I have some concerns about this experiment, but I may be wrong.

The whole idea of basic income is that the basic income would be enough for a person to live. Having never been to Finland (but other northern European countries), I can't see how you can live on 560€ a month without some other source of income or social assistance.

The people in the study are told that the basic income will end in two years, wouldn't that change their behavior? I mean if they know the money is temporary they're not to change their behavior too much.

I know for myself if they gave me 700CAD an month for an basic income experiment for two years, I would be "cool extra cash". However I won't change my behavior job/career wise as 1) its not enough to live on; and 2) its going to end.

NedIsakoff··on Tech workers in China’s Silicon Valley face burnout before they reach 30
In China, you're mom or mother-in-law will help you raise the kid. That's also why the retirement age in China is 60 for men and 50 for women (55 for women civil servants).
NedIsakoff··on Ask HN: How do I make sure blog stays up after I die?
How long a time frame are you talking about? 10 years? 20 years? 3 months? 1 year?

If it up to 1 year, find a company that lets you pay up front and pay up front. Also cover domain registration as well.

It becomes harder the longer you go though, with time frames like 50 years you'll be looking up trusts and etc.

NedIsakoff··on Fifty Women Say Salesforce Helped Sex Traffickers Exploit Them
SalesForce also has professional services, which are SalesForce employees that help you with the integration. My guess is this is what the suit is about, the professional services.
NedIsakoff··on Fifty Women Say Salesforce Helped Sex Traffickers Exploit Them
Read my comment below:

SalesForce not like Office 2016 where you install and use it. It's like Oracle EBS in that the forms, workflow, processes and etc needs to be customized for your business and use case. SalesForce has consultants and professional service people that help you with this. They are probably suing because SalesForce consultants or professional services help with the SalesForce setup/integration at BackPage.
