I learned an important lesson in 2016, my worldviews are not shared in America outside of big cities. It forced me to realize that I didn't even know people disagreed so fiercely because of media conglomerate created echo bubbles.

Money, degrees, and productivity are not metrics of a live well lived. There are metrics such as self-reported happiness, marriage and divorce rates, birth rates, and other things that paint a much fuller picture. You need to figure out what is good for you.
Some advice to other women developers. Take the money from silicon valley, then run to a cheaper place to live. Invest it well, and relax.
ex. Buy a duplex, and rent one part of it out to pay your bills.

EDIT: on second thought, I wonder if this is what Daily Stormer wanted all along. They have raised their profile enormously now.
Antifa is a good example with their huge riots and firebombing of cars during Trump's inauguration.
The son of Israel's PM considers them a bigger threat to the jewish people than actual neo-nazis (surprising to me). http://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-junior-says-leftists-...
Any users like it ?
The whole google memo revealed google employees are not as trustworthy as I thought. All the social media talk of blacklists, and inquisition tactics from some of upper management is bad for business.
I've already gotten emails from clients asking me to change their business google services to something else (anything else in their own words).
Its mainly for practical reasons, they tend to pay less.
Intel creates the diversity fund in 2015 for 125 million.

Then a year later in 2016, lays off 11% of their workforce.
http://spectrum.ieee.org/view-from-the-valley/at-work/tech-c...
Then in 2017, Google hires Danielle Brown the VP who pushed the diversity fund at intel.
I'm beginning to think as a minority woman in tech, These diversity funds are worse than quotas.
Whats the point in being hired, then fired a year later.
I also suspect, every group is afraid of losing their job. Intel firing 11% of its workforce is scary example.
I would have preferred to be an artist or a philosopher, bu t my family was poor and had bills to pay.

But I could see it possibly as big a revolution as birth control, especially for a generation born with video games. I noticed my younger nieces and nephews have an exceptionally higher tolerance for uncanny valley simulacrum.
Also I said I don't think it was the right thing to do.
But again I have to say a muslim ban that isn't based on religion really doesn't make sense. As for region based bans, those are not really new they've been done since Jimmy Carter.
So they tried to take Obama what did in 2011, a few steps further and are rightfully taking flak for it, just like I think Obama should have gotten in 2011.
Again though a muslim ban not based in religion sounds nonsensical.
Edit: Is there subtext I'm missing. Are you implying this is a slippery slope to a full muslim ban ?
""" "The areas of the world that create danger for us, which is a factual basis, not a religious basis. Perfectly legal, perfectly sensible."
Giuliani reiterated that the ban is "not based on religion." """
A muslim ban not based in religion sounds nonsensical to me.
As for the conspiracy theory medium article, its easy to do in a world of big data. It's called cherry picking, and its exactly what Info Wars does to create their fear mongering articles. Vague speculation and half truths on the main premises of the paper, and then even the conclusions.
Here's an example from the medium article: "The aims of crushing various groups — Muslims, Latinos, the black and trans communities, academics, the press — are very much primary aims of the regime"
This is clear hysteria. Here's what Trump actually said on black communities while campaigning, "We're going to rebuild our inner cities because our African-American communities are absolutely in the worst shape they've ever been in before. Ever, ever, ever."
And so far President Trump as been doing pretty closely what he said.
A muslim ban that doesn't ban saudi arabia, india, pakistan indonesia, and somalia doesn't seem much of a muslim ban.
I'm going to quote elon musk here "Reading the source material is better than reading other people's opinions about the source material" on the muslim ban. Its pretty clear the media is acting as an opposition party to Trump rather then objective researchers.
I highly suggest you read the actual executive orders, before you start fear mongering, because that doesn't actually help anybody.
We need to be better than this.
Trump's very election is a coup against the establishment, and so was Bernie Sanders impressive campaign in the primary. Trump's win, and Bernie's Rise make it clear, that Americans are done with business as usual politics.
We all need to be dealing with this new reality instead of running to conspiracy theories.
Reviewing them really helped me evaluate and improve my software architecture patterns.
Its pretty clear that something suspicious was occurring.

I've basically been mentoring him and having him read https://github.com/braydie/HowToBeAProgrammer , Comp Science with Python, and a couple books on linux and C to help with some lower level stuff.
He's been struggling a lot with C and Linux concepts. I've been there to help, and now I have strong opinion C and Linux would make a lot of programmers have a better understanding of their programs and computers.
Lately I've been so frustrated I've actually been researching new languages with better performance, because that's a MUCH easy sales pitch to the business managers.

This guy got articles published as radical feminist as well beyond being a fake isis terrorist, fake white nationalist, fake jewish lawyer.
- their AMA's with famous people are pretty amazing, steve wozniak's was great.
- Can't forget their net neutrality protest either http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-29127179
- Alot of the programming related subreddits are pretty nice. It's how I got connected with Django Girls.
It was very enlightening.
Does a white college educated young person burn the flag with no consequences, and everyone else gets hit with intimidation ?
The fact that the democrats and republicans produced such like minded candidates is the more worrying aspect.
The Food Pyramid That Made Us Fat http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/1/29/934261/-
Not to mention the anti-vaccine people on all sides of the political and religious spectrum.
This article really suggests to me a long term trend in the establishments loosing their credibility across multiple groups of people or at least that is the real issue.
