Statistically speaking, the fewer terrorists you allow into your country, combined with the fewer amounts of terrorist organizations you allow to operate in your country, the fewer terrorist attacks you will have.
Yet any extremist can literally walk into France and terrorize, which is essentially what's happened.
So perhaps the biggest difference the fact that Britain has a physical border wall?
And it's okay to call it "globalism" like everyone else does.
Obviously there's benefits, but I maintain that adding fruits and veggies to an otherwise awful lifestyle is akin to putting lipstick on a pig. Eat all the fruit you want -- if you smoke, you're not fooling your body.
My conclusion was that cancer is best prevented by removing negatives from life, not necessarily adding positives. ie avoid anything from stress to pollution to sunburn to obviously smoking. Interestingly, organic food doesn't seem to matter in the cancer equation, given the data we have.
Yet there's one thing you can ADD to reduce cancer: exercise. Preferably moderately hard to strenuous.
Maybe you just need physical separation, and not necessarily W2 income / benefits...?
If it's tagged "baby" or "religion", for instance, I could have that filtered out. Would make it 1000x more enjoyable to use.
Educate yourself and your consumer all at the same time, and do it daily for two years straight. You can't not have some level of results if your writing is decent or better.
Combined with excellent technology, it's a nice win-win.
Enjoy the wins when they're around. You can never predict the future too well anyway.
We are that close to it being gone. 2016 is the most important year in the history of this country, I am thoroughly convinced of that.
I don't have a personal Instagram - just a business one, but I'm definitely a fan of them segmenting these services off away from the consumer stuff. Far better productivity. Get in, do your work, and get out.
Make more money than you spend.
Sorry if I just hurt your book sales.
I don't think there's any perfect solution, once automation is truly nailed. People don't want to be told what to do or forced into work, but I also think that they need something to work for otherwise we'll collectively go insane.
Ever watch Black Mirror? If not, go see the episode titled "Fifteen Million Merits". Something along those lines, sadly....
.... and where do you see the majority of violent crimes occurring??
While that may be true, they fail to realize that they are in the extreme minority of actually-motivated people who would make a good use-case of basic income.
The vast majority of the world will fall into other categories, such as non-productivity or black markets. Not everyone wants to go build the next great app, folks!
I personally believe that this is the most important decision that humans must make over the next half-century, as we automate nearly everything and have little need for cheap human labor:
What do you do with all of those idle hands and minds?
In my opinion, if you allow the masses to do absolutely nothing while providing them the necessities for life, society will collapse upon itself over time, as people vote themselves more and more benefits for doing less and less work, while ostracizing the working and ownership classes. Question is only how many generations it takes.
My favorite example is what happens when you put rats into such a utopia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z760XNy4VM
IMHO, humans are no better than they (possibly far worse, in fact), and I see no reason to believe how anything else will happen over the course of several generations of "free stuff".
Humans without responsibilities and accountability = chaos. Tell me it hasn't already begun.
My simple question I always pose is this: "If everyone has $X dollars, then wouldn't $X become worthless?"
I fail to see how there won't be some kind of inflationary situation amongst the lower class, especially in the form of rents over the course of a year as leases reset. I also refuse to accept any argument that involves the majority of landlords "doing the right thing".
Thanks for posting the Law of Rent.
Try getting into something completely different than tech. Like aggressive athletic stuff (ie MMA / boxing... not cycling where you have lots of techies) or do some improv, which can drastically improve your bullshitting skills if you can stick with it.
I really only communicate via phone if it's scheduled in the calendar.
My best answer is that right now, they realize it's best not to ruin a great thing. They're on top of the world, things are going well, why rock the boat?
It's tough to know what's really going on with their crime (given our sensationalist media and my not living there)... but you couldn't pay me enough money to go to the 2016 Olympics.
I never said not to feel emotion. Stoicism simply doesn't act on it without first checking other valid logical responses. Understand what you're dealing with here.
Extremely emotional people are only predictable in that they are going to behave unpredictably and irrationally.
What I find hilarious is that I explain what's gotten me superior results in life and everyone argues with it rather than try to understand why.
