Melatonic··on Steam Frame starts at $1059
Unless you live in a walk in freezer !

This almost sounds like a movie I saw once. "The Matrices" maybe ?
Melatonic··on OpenAI bots knew about the RubyGems caching vulnerability
So if I breed and train dogs for a living and one of them goes and wrecks someone's yard - and then a tree falls next door in the woods but nobody hears it fall - do I also get away with massive copy right infringement on an epic scale and get to create Skynet with no consequences ?
Melatonic··on OpenAI bots knew about the RubyGems caching vulnerability
Sounds like owning a Dog
Melatonic··on XCancel service is suspended until further notice
It's more that tons of local services (like firefighting updates) directly post their latest updates there
Melatonic··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Is that true with 26 as well ?

I never use CarPlay and have Siri and AI off. iOS 27 update shows as only needing 3.8gb which is surprisingly low.

Melatonic··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Isn't it being revamped a big feature of iOS 27 ?
Melatonic··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Your saying the "reduce transparency" setting changed between 26 and 27?

I've been running it since 18 (first thing I do is go into accessibility and turn off any animations and screen effects that take GPU cycles)

Melatonic··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Turn off Swipe or Slide or whatever they call it now in the keyboard settings
Melatonic··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
If you turn off swipe or whatever the hell they call it the keyboard is a lot better.

Gboard on Android though is way better

Melatonic··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Always turn off searching the internet as much as possible on both. Helps a ton. I think I set both windows and iOS to only search local applications and settings
Melatonic··on Will there be a 7G?
Isn't mm5g basically similar to microwave point to point ?

Had no idea about full duplex though - that's huge

Melatonic··on Usenet rewind archive search engine
Those were semi private no ? I would guess not. Although maybe there's an old server sitting in someone's garage with the info
Melatonic··on I've operated petabyte-scale ClickHouse clusters for 5 years
Sounds like a great way to give AWS infinite money
Melatonic··on Shopify is moving from React Native back to Swift and Kotlin
I thought we were talking about Sportifei - the new outdoors retailer ?

3000 engineers or 3000 people on the engineering side of the org ?

Not sure I'd trust Astra in its numbers.

Shopify also seems to be very solid and reliable and I imagine that could require a lot of QA and edge cases (and a lot of support engineers)

Melatonic··on google.com/goto: Google's anti-scraping update
They use a ton of different search index's from what I've seen. Kagi Small Web is also awesome

I believe they are building their own index but targeted towards useful results not included in the others

Melatonic··on google.com/goto: Google's anti-scraping update
What do you mean Kagi doesn't show sites with ads ?
Melatonic··on OpenAI agents carried out an undisclosed attack on RubyGems
Security is always an inconvenience at some level - that's the point. Put a human user in a sandbox and they often try to get out too in order to achieve their goal or just because it's annoying.

We need to create better sandboxes. I never liked containers for this reason. MicroVMs are a step up for the software level but we really really need to consider virtualising layer 3 devices in between the LLM agent sandbox and the hardware in a way to specifically further nest / separate them. And hell - probably do hardware level security barriers as well.

We need a cage around the sandboxes

Melatonic··on The Death of Shame Is Tearing Us Apart
Or their shame of playing TikTok audio in public is less than their shame and anxiety of dealing with the modern world (including crowded mass transit)
Melatonic··on The Death of Shame Is Tearing Us Apart
People care that much about sports ?
Melatonic··on The Death of Shame Is Tearing Us Apart
That's a great point. And it goes probably both ways. The young person doing something annoying might also be annoyed by something different the older person does. Respectful communication is probably the key but why is it so elusive ?
Melatonic··on The Death of Shame Is Tearing Us Apart
iPhones also have a horrible sound management system which is just finally getting better. People keep their phone on silent at all times for this reason.

If from the start they had simply had separate volume controls for alarms / phone calls / media / alerts then I think this would not have become a trend.

Melatonic··on Don't let anyone take away your big box of cables
Don't forget a baggy labeled "console cables" that's always empty because it's perpetually borrowed by someone and never where you need it !
Melatonic··on Planet Labs' open satellite feed
What if you used the Sentinel data (in assuming your using the same low res stuff I view in CalTopo) and put that through an AI up scaling type algo and also give it the higher resolution but older imagery ? With a decent amount of dinklsr data it might be able to fairly accurately give you an approximation of what the current high res stuff is.

I suppose you could even train it (maybe) on multiple years / time periods of historical high and low res data before using the latest Sentinel stuff ?

Edit: I'm sure you already know this but I bet for the above the false color IR data could also be especially useful

Melatonic··on Blizzard Workers Win Historic Union Contract
This is really needed right now. I suspect with studios adopting AI en masse for software development and the creative side of things the studios that unionise and/or treat their real workers well will come out on top. We need studios filled with talented and passionate people who aren't worried about getting laid off next week and not making rent.
Melatonic··on Blizzard Workers Win Historic Union Contract
All those studios were actually already on a downward trend I'd argue. Unionisation may turn it around
Melatonic··on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
So does that mean only the main sensor can do this ?
Melatonic··on iPhone Duo
Im not 87 and have great vision but I recently got some magnifying shop style glasses for close up work on tiny stuff. It also has the advantage of being like readers in that it corrects for close vision (closer point of focus) in addition to magnifying. That could also help.
Melatonic··on iPhone Duo
Know any good books on this stuff ?

Stakeholder Capitalism sounds like a much longer term success vector for most companies.
