McElroy··on From Asm.js to WebAssembly
https://github.com/WebAssembly/design/blob/master/FAQ.md#wil... makes me happy as that was the first concern I had when reading these news :)

This page makes Firefox on Android crash.
McElroy··on Microscopic footage of a needle moving across the grooves of a record
I've inspected such a machine thoroughly on one occasion and was able to determine that the machine switched the penny for a dummy before performing the flatten and stamp operation.
McElroy··on KeePass – questionable security
Password Safe seems interesting. Too bad it's hosted on Source Forge.

>His channel is a lot of fun.

Checked it out and I agree. I have to wonder, though, if his money shrinking experiment is such a good idea. Isn't that sort of treatment of currency prohibited by law?

McElroy··on How We Designed for Performance and Scale
I did as they said at the bottom and gave them my e-mail and other personal details so I could download the eBook that they were giving free preview copies of - "Building Microservices". Unfortunately, they sent link to PDF only so it's not usable to me. Just a heads up to others so you save yourself the time of discovering that. (I'll just wait for when the book is finished and then I'll buy it so I get ePub. I like O'Reilly and have bought many books there before.)
McElroy··on Add Amazon root certificates
I'm not sure I agree with you but still I found it a bit funny how many of the URLs in the ticket were http instead of https.
McElroy··on What's new in Xcode 7
While try/catch is what is exposed to us as developers, the underlying implementation could very well be advanced.
McElroy··on “Swift will be open source later this year”
I think they have two primary reasons for open sourcing it:

1. Being able to upstream more into LLVM means less maintenance of their internal forks.

2. The recent open sourcing of Microsoft .NET core parts.

McElroy··on Unix is not an acceptable Unix
>I am not sure how many of the commands have been converted

There's a page [1] on the FreeBSD wiki with a list of converted and ongoing conversion. I don't know if the list is complete but the page was last modified 2015-05-22, so it should be fairly up to date i guess.

McElroy··on How Plex is doing https for all it's users
Great write-up. Sorry to see the post didn't draw many readers. If I was benevolent dictator of the HN front page, I'd put you there.
McElroy··on Visual Studio Online Supports Cross-Platform Development
Also https://github.com/gogits/gogs which I run on my VPS and though I still rely on GitHub first and foremost (because GitHub is way better), it's good to have.

I bought a MacBook Pro once because I believed comments like this. Had lots of hardware trouble, boot problems, had to have it serviced multiple times. Never again. I'm just fortunate that I live in a country where consumer rights are strong and where if you bought a computer and have the same problem three times or so with the service people unable to fix it, you can return it for a refund. Still was a huge time waster each time the machine broke down, though.
