If you're interested I've been documenting the entire process of taking BugMuncher from a side project to my full-time job on my blog starting here - https://www.bugmuncher.com/blog/from-side-project-to-profita...
"seeing a cartoon avatar in the middle of an NPR-produced 360 video highlighting the situation in Puerto Rico while very real people walk around surveying the devastation of their homes perhaps wasn’t the most appropriate choice."
1 - I've tried a number of frameworks, although ember is the only one I've used extensively. As I said, the issue was mostly with the thick client / thin backend api set up rather than specific ember stuff, with the exception of ember being overly opinionated.
2 - not interactive enough to require a js framework
3 - BugMuncher is just me, so I'm also the UX guy and I think server side rendering is awesome
4 - no (in my own humble opinion)
e.g.: omitting the article title from the URL still works (https://medium.com/@soleoshao/cd29c0713cad) as does changing it to something else entirely (https://medium.com/@soleoshao/i-like-turtles-cd29c0713cad)
Both those URLs still load the article in question.
While the moderator had a bad habit of talking too much and answering his own questions to all panelists, he didn't talk over the other (male) panelists, he only seemed to do that to Veronika Hubeny.
- does this really need to be online?
- really?
Like others have said, the lettering around the edge is always the biggest clue, but also the head and tails stampings will sometimes be off centre, and misaligned to each other.
The fake ones also make the 'wrong' noise when you drop them on a hard surface. It's hard to describe, but really noticeable if you compare it to a real coin.
My understanding from reading this and Travis' post is that all Cloudflare customers are affected, is that correct?
As of November 2016 BugMuncher reached profitability - ie: it's my sole source of income, and covers all of my living expenses.
It's more likely that the OP uses this JS framework a lot and knows it well, so it was quicker for them to build it this way.
I realise that by encouraging clients and freelancers to work directly after the first project is bad for Bamboo itself, but I'm hoping that by staying lean and bootstrapped, the listing and transaction fees should be enough to keep the site going.
Its quite possible OP doesn't believe anything in the linked to article
By OP I assume you mean me, ie: the guy who submitted the article to HN, not the author.First, I'm not out for attention, but thanks for that unprompted attack (dick). I submitted this as it seemed wrong that it kept being censored/flagged off HN. Honestly I expected it to be flagged off again, but hoped at least a few more people would get to see it.
For me the real issue isn't so much that Thiel is Trump supporter, but that Sam Altman and PG have both been very vocal in their denouncement of Trump, so keeping Thiel as a partner (not employee, let's be clear about that) seems incongruous at best, and down right spineless at worst.
Don't get me wrong, Donald Trump is huge cunt in my view, but even if I were indifferent to Trump, I'd still feel Thiel and Ycombinator should not be doing business together with such drastically conflicting values.
It's also probably worth mentioning I'm English and live in the UK, and this whole election reminds me of Brexit. Pretty much everyone I spoke to thought it would be a landslide for remain. Hell, even the politicians advocating leave didn't seem to think they'd win. Yet here we are, £GBP in free fall, and no one on either side seems to have any idea what to do next.
Even if it seems unlikely now, Trump could end up as president, and that's scary for a lot of people.
Some of the icons don't look great at the small size, particularly the smilies (Chrome 53 on OS X)
Hope you manage to get your account back with all the photos intact.
