Is it not? You can have GitHub pages for your project if you wish. Static website with no ads or malware added.

Sure it's not like editing couple input boxes, but SF UX never was good. Even as developer I found navigating SF painful (back then when it was the primary hosting location). I can't imagine it was much better for the average user.

I applaud the commitment, but I think SF should remain dead. It must be a lesion for anyone considering similar actions. The trust is non-existent, there are better alternatives and the world has moved on.

I think the best course of action is to put that commitment and people into a new name, better product and help those few projects still hosted on SF to migrate.

MaikuMori··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (January 2016)
This is probably the most bizarre job ad I've read. Ever.
MaikuMori··on KeePass – questionable security
They way I see it, the downside of LastPass is that it's online, so they could at request of some government or in case of a hack change the code that you execute to capture your master password or do whatever.

This obviously can be done with offline software too, but it's much harder/slower process.

Also I don't quite understand the point of encrypting your database in Dropbox. It's already encrypted. The problem is that someone could monitor how your encrypted file is changing and that way simplify decryption. And that doesn't change even if you encfs. Unless the point of it is to hide that you have password db in Dropbox.

MaikuMori··on Atom.io: Multi-Folder Projects
We're working on adding automatic install sort of like go-plus does. Also before I picked it up the plugin was outdated and didn't work with recent Atom versions so that could have contributed to the problem.

If you have time please try again and open an issue. I'll make sure it gets fixed.

Which language did you try to use it with? Go right now is the most stable.
MaikuMori··on Atom.io: Multi-Folder Projects
I've used Atom for quite a while now (mostly for Go projects). Go-plus plugin is just awesome. I've also taken up development of [sourcegraph-atom][1] plugin.

For most day to day coding file size limits and slowness which comes from big files is not relevant. If your source files are huge you probably want to split them up more. If you have to work with big files Atom is not for you, but so are most editors. For data extraction and transformation I rather use CLI.

Where I've noticed slowdown the most is when you open up many files, I think things could be improved there, but again typically you don't need 20 files open in editor at the same time.

Multiple projects is a nice feature, but I'm already used to opening multiple windows if I do need to have multiple folders open. I'm sure the community will come up with some nice uses/plugins for it.

I think one of the biggest pluses for Atom is the active community and plugins and they're invested to keep it going and improve.

MaikuMori··on Merge Pull Request Considered Harmful
Is this exactly situation that https://help.github.com/articles/checking-out-pull-requests-... documents?

So basically:

    git fetch origin pull/ID/head:BRANCHNAME
    git checkout BRANCHNAME
And now you can edit that pull request and/or make new pull request based on the previous one. Or just simply merge in master.
MaikuMori··on Kaspersky Cyberthreat real-time map
Correct me if I'm wrong but looks like a marketing stunt, there is nothing "realtime" about it, check the network log. While it's all nice and flashy with nice transitions, there is no way you can follow what's going on. The only information that is readable are country statistics.

Galncing at the source it seems that all the "updates" are just startup number + random value.
