Magnets··on Google collects metadata from Android phones
This code won't be in Android but in the Google apps which are pretty much essential if you want to use Android (Play store, Chrome, Maps, Google play Services)

Play store alone has enough permissions to collect call metadata

Magnets··on Security researcher gets threats over Amazon review
Sounds like the classic excuses you get from chinese sellers, they say their boss will punish them if you've left a bad review, aliexpress will punish their store, company will close etc.

It's no problem though, they can just keep sending out free review units to get their 4 and 5 star reviews. 2 verified purchases from 11 reviews, and one of those got it for free or heavily discounted "The AuYou Power Socket arrived very fast & was packaged well. I received it for an honest & unbiased review"

That is what's really killing Amazon reviews, free products in exchange for 5-star reviews.

Magnets··on Could the Scottish Parliament Stop the UK from Leaving the EU?
The way our election system works, nothing is clear cut, it's partly why so many don't vote in general elections and why so many did vote in the referendum. (66% vs 72% turnout).

How would the conservatives pledge? Half of them want out and spent the last few months campaigning for it.

Many Labour areas of the country voted to leave, calling an election would just provide more confusion.

I also don't think it's a good idea to just vote in a government based on 1 aspect

That sounds very difficult to hide

The guy is responsible for a small number of low-activity projects, he's going to go over any new pull requests with a fine tooth comb
Magnets··on Did I just win?
I don't really see how anyone can win this challenge (other than how already done). The guy will be super cautious of any pull requests.
Magnets··on Amazon Reviews: How We Spot the Fakes
AFAIK companies can provide discount codes for reviewers to "buy" the product but there is a limit to the discount amount.

Amazon manually check reviews, which may also cluster

The other problem is that companies provide free or heavily discounted products in exchange for a review.

So they are using real users who then with a wink and a nudge provide 4 & 5 star reviews to keep the free products coming.

Magnets··on Company Makes $70M Selling Random Stuff on Amazon
I closed the tab then later reloaded the page and it completely blocked it saying I needed to login to view it.

Clearing cookies fixed it, but wow.

Magnets··on India bans discriminatory pricing based on source/destination/app/content
Where does the article mention anything about discriminatory pricing based on source/destination/app/content in the linked article?

Another similar device is the gl.inet AR-150

$24 but you get 2xEthernet, USB host, stable openwrt, a button + 2 state switch (handy for triggering scripts) and the option of an external antenna.

I'm so tempted to order this for $9 but I don't really have a use for it!

Or as App engine decided to do, increase prices/decrease quotas. What now? rewrite your code or just pay the new prices.
