Lunatic666··on Ad blocking is under attack
Would forking really help or is it because it's hosted on github? I mean US citizens would still contribute. Together with a lot of people from other countries. But moving it to a European server with a European domain should increase their safety from those takedown requests, but also limits their impact when you're not on github anymore.
Lunatic666··on Rise in Google bikes stolen, dumped in Mountain View creek has locals annoyed
In Germany the owner is responsible for the property, so if something gets stolen and dumped, you have to manage how to get it back. I guess that's why people care more about their stuff and lock it.
Lunatic666··on We plan to have Chrome hide ads that do not comply with the Better Ads Standards
I'm only using a blocker, because I don't want to be tracked and sucked dry of any data. I wouldn't mind some ads on the pages I visit.
Lunatic666··on Ask HN: What linux distro should I start with?
There is a community distro of Manjaro which already includes i3: https://sourceforge.net/projects/manjaro-i3/

It was a big help to get more into i3. It also includes a lot of helper scripts. I used them in the beginning to get things done and later switched over to the "real" commands. inst -> pacman is an example for that.

Lunatic666··on Stop Fabricating Travel Security Advice
I also don't understand why people complain and still go to the US. I'd never ever go to a country, which is that intrusive to my privacy.

In my company, people have a choice where they're sent, so if you like being stripped naked by the border monkeys, go but don't complain later.

Lunatic666··on Amazon WorkMail
From the FAQs:

Q: Can I use Amazon WorkMail with Microsoft Outlook on Mac OS X?

Yes. Amazon WorkMail offers native support for Microsoft Outlook 2011 on Mac OS X. Support for Microsoft Outlook 2016 will be available soon.

However they don't say how soon...

Lunatic666··on Gmail Will Warn If Message Is Not Authenticated/Encrypted
That's not right, I host some email servers for small companies and private people who all have problems with Google accounts although supporting DKIM, SPF and a TLS connection. They block them as bulk mail and in their FAQ the option hosting your own server isn't even listed. Of course contacting them is impossible, so the only way left is creating a ton of fake accounts on gmail and add the addresses to their contacts or ask friends with gmail accounts to add them and mark them as no spam. Google definitely IS the email bully and there's not much you can do about it.
Lunatic666··on Disappointed with Europe, Thousands of Iraqi Migrants Return Home
Mr. Jabiry is one of those reasons why people start thinking that real refugees are like this. Going to a foreign country without education or possibility to get a job is naive if you want to say it nicely. They take a place from someone who really needs help and ruin their reputation
Lunatic666··on Dear Google Mail Team
I had exactly the same setup, but I had to create 10 fake Gmail accounts, add the email address to the address book and flag several emails as "not spam" before it was useable. Google Mail just ignores the fact that there are private people who want to have their own mail server to be independent from Gmail.
Lunatic666··on Show HN: A random startup generator
A good reminder to not taking ourselves too serious all the time. Good idea and beautiful implementation!
Lunatic666··on Why we are leaving Dropbox
I just recently found it moved over from Dropbox, too. - Quick and competent support - Linux sync client - Apps with Photo sync (Since yesterday also for iOS)

I can even use the photo sync from multiple devices because it creates folders per phone

Lunatic666··on Georgia Teens Develop App to Document Police Abuse
If you want to target lower income people, then I think smartphones are the better choice. They can afford a cheap Android smartphone rather than a small laptop. Smartphones provide the same services cheaper and they're handy to use
Lunatic666··on Ask HN: How do you transfer money internationally?
I'm looking for an affordable way to transfer money from Singapore to Germany, but so far the cheapest is sending the money to a VISA or Mastercard. It's fixed S$10 per transfer and it's instant transfer, very handy.
Lunatic666··on Internet Giants Erect Barriers to Spy Agencies
Google is worse than the N.S.A. anyway. They do exactly the same only that they give you a shitty UI for your emails in return
Lunatic666··on Amazon granted patent for taking photos against a white background
I'm always laughing my ass of when I read for which stupid shit you can get a patent in the U.S. If you seriously ask for a patent like this in Europe, they tell you to take your pills and get the fuck out of their office
Lunatic666··on LXQt – The next generation of the Lightweight Desktop Environment
What about making a new Desktop not only fast, but also pretty? All the Linux Desktops look butt-ugly compared to OS X or even Windows 8 and absolutely don't make we want to give it a try. A nicely designed Desktop which is also fast and uses less resources would help getting Linux on the Desktops so much more...
Lunatic666··on EasyJet refuses to let columnist on board for sending critical tweet
Not letting lawyers on board sounds perfectly ok for me...
