America has genocided 10s of millions for what it is worth. From Native Americans to slaves to all the wars in the last years to "export democracy". If any country can rival China in killing people needlessly it is the USA for sure.

While I can understand not wanting to have a kid of your own blood very easy for many different reasons
It is not in small (say below 5 people) teams/ organisations. At least not in the ones I worked in.

We are for sure further away in time form any real AGI then we are from a moon landing, most likely further away then from the roman empire. To think or even worry about it is a fools game.
It is so much more likely we just wipe out the planet with nukes than developing an real AGI.
Not that others won't naked short also, it is just they do not do it openly.
Copenhagen interpretation is just "easier" (like oops all our calculations about the univers don't seemt to fit, lets invent "dark matter") when the correct explanations makes any real world calculation practically impossible (thus ending most of physics further study) as any atom depends on every other atom at any time.
