Imagine you are infected. Its not lethal. Just different. The air smells like chocolate. And you get hypnotized and high- by fire. But is not dangerous- after all- all you know are infected. Your family. Your tribe. The whole world is infected, so anyone not infected, would be "sick" objectively.

So every day, you gather what you can find, and you carry it to the pile. The pile is a never ceasing fire, burning in a mile high chimney, errected in competitions among tribes. Its hard to ignore- all those walking towards the firestorm, carrying sacrifices- once the sunrise and sunset mass orgasm subsides.

Maybe you found coal, you have talent, you are worthy, you can feel the burning envy of the others. The one left to you, carries some brushes, the one right to you carries a struggling fat deer. Oh, how it will burn, oh the joys.

All of you have the mycelium behind your eyes- that spark never to cease. At the distance, some youths howl insults at the caravan, not strong enough to carry yet, dismissing the joys of the front row out of jealousy. They will find something, find their place, they will wake up to the joy, carrying some dehydrated, light husk to the pillar of awe. Even now they are hiding some candle or torch.

You slough towards the heat, some sweating the ash off, some collapsing, even in spasms- the eye on the inferno and its priests. Some are deprived off the joy, to deliver coolant, to maintain roads or shovell ashes. The joyless, you pity them- you hit them if they come between you and the pyre. Then the orange fills the world, joy is you, and you dance, forward, backward. Foam is on your mouth. Till you collapse from your body giving way. A Joyless carries you home, some lonely replaceable hole, in a well organized dessert, a empty cave in the anthill on a empty plain - where you, where you all sleep. For tomorrow, before dusk you will rise.

You will walk out into the inferno- telling yourself, that you are pure. One of the lucky few, to be burned away, for another day. You are the burning men. You always wanted this.

I wouldnt bet on this. The disenfranchised who voted for trump are getting more and they are there to stay. Trump may be the first of a series of "small" emperors, and the mildest as still struggling with institutions and a not rewritten constitution.

To be honest, i expect a lot of robot producers to be sold off for the same reason. Robots - as they are produced now are a dead end. The reason beeing the expected compatability to legacy software and programmability by low skill labour. Robotsystems, are softwarewise for a large part - still stuck in the 90s, pre object-orientation.

So to sell of kuka, was a smart move by the shareholders, because like most tradrobot producers, kuka had peaked. Industry 4.0 and lots of other Innovation (NN-driven self optimization, etc.) simply will and can not happen with what is sold today. Most robot systems are little, bug-riddled walled in gardens, while the industry of factory automation, actually needs a steam like system to provide cheap, reliable modules.

And when it will happen, giants like google and amazon are actually positioned pretty well to take over the whole sector. They have the tech, they have the talent, and they even might get the chance to stripmine a whole industry for the core-knowledge, by being the cheapest and best robot producer out there.

This industry is like the paper roadmap industry waiting for the https://www.google.com/maps to be registered. Its ripe for the taking. If you look carefully, several companys have been gobbled up there already in preparation, the only thing holding back advances beeing national governments afraid of jobloss.

LifeLiverTransp··on High Speed Trains Are Killing the European Railway Network (2013)
Why cant the train and infrastructure be run by the state- while the service inside is run by a private company?

Like, the company rents the traincar barebone and puts in seats, foodstalls, wifi, ac, etc.

Finally, while we are at modernizing, can we get maglev trains - with detaching and attaching passenger cabins? Because, the real slowdown in europe is local "little" emperors having a say where the train stops, and theire voters region is that one place, the ICE has to stop.

LifeLiverTransp··on Italy’s austerity-fueled crisis is a warning to the Eurozone
We should have two currencies, one slowly sinking in value and one slowly rising. Then a country should be able to choose internally to align itself with the Euro or the Orue, for internal trade, external trade and money value.

Because customers do not listen to your instructions, and when something is broken, will take a thrown lan-cable and a router, and mess it up more.
LifeLiverTransp··on Microsoft Abandons Windows 10’s Constant Forced Updates
I work in factory automation, half of the machines there are still on WinXP. The idea to switch a system that auto-updates, sending a whole production facility into a full stop is laughable. That legacy rope your most loyal customers where depending on microsoft, its now strangling your very movement.

In the long run, i can some compatability layer beeing developed, so legacy customers can cut out microsoft. Its just not a reliable partner anymore.

LifeLiverTransp··on Agile Lite: Agile without all the burnout
What i would prefer, is to take a step back and look at all major interest partys involved, who will deform the development process. If management puts to much pressure on, a good process would give tech and the customer more chances to counter said pressure, to avoid tech debt and badly implemented features.

I want a process that reacts to the situation, in favour of the product, in favour of longterm goals - who actively resists people who try to gamble it for whatever reason. Agile is not that.

LifeLiverTransp··on Tanks Are Mighty Fine Things (1946)
Written on a device, invented for war, send by a device ment for a war, transfered by a device, engineered for economic competition (a war in all but name forced to peace by a governments monopolizing force), read while eating food that was taken away from other critter who would prefered to have eaten it.

Stupid processes can give rise to usefull things and create intelligent incentives.

The people dieing in wars, are lost to us forever though. Thinking about all the russian mathematicians, jewish pianists, german painters and american poets who died in the war, oftenn without ever noticing there talent, one can come to the conclusion that war makes stupid.

LifeLiverTransp··on Restoring natural forests is the best way to remove atmospheric carbon
The problem is- that in poor countries, forrest are chopped down faster then you can rebuilt them. So what you need is a mixture of reforrestation- the natural forrest in diffiult to reach regions. And "crop" forrest - aka bamboo in those regions that will get pillaged.

Imagine there are ozeans, and they slowly dry away, evaporatintg to space. The water gets more saltier with every season, uvw rays grill what ever is left of your living space.

All you can do is sleep through longer and longer winters in this brine, waiting for the sun to thaw the salty mud. Or you retreat, using some weak smoker in the depths as a provider of energy, following it ever deeper down, the world freeze drying behind you.

I know its frowned upon by some, but imagine we could create a sort of floating spirondella, and set them free in venus atmosphere. Venus beeing a dead planet, cooled by a floating forrest sounds actually more realistic to me terraformingwise then changing mars.

LifeLiverTransp··on Klotho – There May Be a Drug to Turbocharge Your Brain. Who Should Get It?
If you are smart, you do not work hard. Instead, it turns into a sort of competition, who has to work the least, to extract the most benefits and do the least amount of work. Hacking in that regard, is a competition of parasites.

My pet theory is, that having suffered for nearly 10.000 years under castes of priests and noble men unwilling to lift a finger, humanity has developed a near instinctive hatred for "parasitic" entitys, who ledge themselves to society extracting value without returning anything to society.

The moment, external circumstances in such a system create a down turn, the whole thing explodes, viciously attacking the non-contributors, trying to exterminate them and redistribute there ill gathered gains back to society.

Take a look at france during the revolution for example. Sometimes the parasites, manage to redirect the hatred towards internal or external outgroups, like the jews in germany during ww2, but in the end, the mobrule undoes most of the parasitic growth anyway by sheer brute force and endurance of turmoil.

LifeLiverTransp··on Klotho – There May Be a Drug to Turbocharge Your Brain. Who Should Get It?
There might also be a mob-reaction against beeing gambled too much, resulting in conspiracy theorys and goverments built to execute those framed in those in conspiracies.

In other word, hacking your fellow mens livelihood might shorten your longterm survival.
