JulianChastain··on TikTok videos leave teens thinking they have rare mental disorders (2021)
There are standard diagnostic tests to falsify whether you have ADHD, that give a binary result as to whether the patient has ADHD/ADD. It is very easy to take one of these tests and determine whether you experience the symptoms

At the most basic level, its because they don't a filibuster proof number of votes for it. Additionally, any attempt to regulate abortion at the federal level may be struck down in the supreme court, as the ruling suggests abortion rights are a state level decision.
JulianChastain··on How not to teach recursion (2021)
I disagree with the reasoning for why factorial is a bad example. Factorial is very simple to explain as a mathematical function, requires very little prior knowledge. When asked why you aren't allowed to implement it as a loop, the response I was given was that you very simply define factorial in a self referential way (0! = 1 and n! = n * (n - 1)!), and is there any way you could implement the function in a way that clearly expresses that definition? At least for me this function was a fantastic intro to recursion

The goals/motivations of the action is what matters here. Changing a few lines of code to state your stance on an issue won't cause any level of change whatsoever. It was clearly done to show which side of the war the author supported, more about the author than the conflict. A Canadian protestor that spent most of the time publishing their involvement on social media is virtue signaling, but one that merely occupied the capital is not. Saying "Let's go Brandon" is virtue signaling, unless the signal is meant only for your group, then it is dog whistling

In your original comment, you were "expressing skepticism that any medication will at all help with anything." This is an absolute statement that is directly contradicted by "Some [patients] can't function without [their medication]." Its ironic you criticize the reading skills of your interlocutor
JulianChastain··on Matrix multiplication inches closer to mythic goal
The article doesn't specify, and I don't have the prior knowledge to understand the paper; Is there a coded implementation of this in some language or is it purely a mathematical description of how theoretically multiplication can always be done with slightly fewer multiplications?
