Jaggu··on Y Not - YC rejects of the world, unite!
YC is great because you get environment and advise from people who were part of successful startups. Also their connection helps. After the rejection - it is better i do my work myself and then if needed - for connection and advise - I will apply again in YC for next round. You might be next BillGates or PaulGraham but at this time you are just like me and other developers who wants to be their own boss. So, as you don't have proven track record - I am not gonna move to SV just so that I can stay with other like minded. I am motivated enough to do same by staying at my place. I might be wrong but people should rethink about what they wanna achieve by moving...
Jaggu··on If you applied for this cycle, please tell us your email address
Thanks for giving detail about where to enter email address. We had our email address in application form and we thought we have everything set. But noticed that we didn't have email address in profile so, just updated it.
Jaggu··on Ask YC: Where I went wrong?
Yep, In startup we have to do everything ourself but Marketing is something you learn over the time and thro' connection. Yep I am weak at that and that is my main problem.
Jaggu··on Ask YC: Where I went wrong?
Thanks for nice input

"HotOrNot was James' third startup before he finally succeeded."

Thats good to know that James didn't give up after first two failures. It must be hard to keep that temperament.

Jaggu··on Why Does Software Cost So Much?
Why in the world I would read 1994 article about software cost? We are in 2007 - you shouldn't even try to compare.
Jaggu··on Ask YC: What are the likely server costs for a facebook ad network?
It is hard to give that detail without knowing detail about how many concurrent users are using apps. If we have more breakdown then it is easy to give that detail.

Without much requirement detail, On the safe side - My guess is three Linux server cluster (Specs 2-CPU and @4GB RAM ( @2500$) )should be enough to server content for high usage site like facebook.

It is purely guess based on my limited knowledge of facebook. If you have any specific detail like

- Avg Concurrent users - Peak time concurrent users - Apps software platform ( java app server, php, .NET ?? )

then that will help.

Jaggu··on How old are you and what is your education level?
By the way whats purpose of this post? Are you just trying to find what age group people are reading news on this site?
Jaggu··on How old are you and what is your education level?
32 + Computer Engineering
Jaggu··on Due to part-time?
It looks like that message board is build by phpBB ..very simple to install and configure. But still if you count min hosting cost for 3-4 years then total is fair.
Jaggu··on The Future of Web Startups
Paul,

Your each and every article is giving indication that married people are not good enough to start startup. Come on man - I am reading your articles to inspire myself and to keep up my tempo but when I read age analysis then that is very demotivating.

Well I think I need to find place where there are success stories without age limit ;)

I understand that kids and wife can take quite a bit time. But if there are people like me who dreams about own business for years and wasn't able to start it because never found right channels and due to that now I am above 30. Now I have vision and courage but also I am married. Does it mean that I have to stop seeing dream? No way man. I am here to prove you wrong. Will let you know whenever I am succesful :)

Thanks for all great articles.
