You must think the natural and artificial worlds as being self-similar. Think them as one continuous, self-organizing process.
Technology is the result of the evolutionary process of the universe. If the process resembles its own result, that shouldn't come as a surprise.
Policing prevents, and makes possible, all sorts of things. It is a function of law. By abolishing policing you throw out the baby (the law) with the bathwater (laws that facilitate the concentration of wealth).
Indeed. And it must be regarded as infinitely baffling that everyone is shouting "abolish the police" instead of "redistribute the wealth" ...
> the evolutionary argument...rests of [sic] a big mistake about what nervous systems, immune systems, genetic regulatory nets, etc., evolve to do. This is not transmit information from one place to another, or be "flexible" in some abstract sense, but cause actions which enhance the fitness of the organism they happen to be in.
What reasons does the author have for maintaining these ideas? Naturally, none are given.
It's just a bunch of disconnected opinions.
Unfortunately, I don't. It's a catch-22.
> It's also worth considering if there are other groups of people that you may not be coming in to contact with who might be more interested in the same things as you.
I'm really interested in philosophy. Since January I've been using Bumble to try to find people who share this interests, but I haven't had any luck yet.
When I meet a friend, things seem to go really well at first, and then my friend seems to slowly get bored of the interactions we have, and after a couple months I just don't hear from them again. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is there a scientific way to find out?
Then again, what's wrong with that? Theoretically it just levels the playing field.
The real inequality is higher up the food chain anyway...
I think OP meant that psychologists/psychiatrists don't recognize the social nature of mental illness at all. Just because you can't change society doesn't mean you should tell patients that they can lift themselves out of depression through sheer willpower, healthy eating habits, and exercise. Those things can help but if you don't know how you're going to pay rent next month and you've got two kids, you're going to have serious anxiety.
