JRKrause··on The Most Misused SSN of All Time
I am continually impressed how often this works, even at small obscure grocery stores the pattern of (local area code)-867-5309 will always be registered.
JRKrause··on AT&T employees were bribed to install phone unlocking malware on company network
I bought an ATT locked iPhone SE from Ebay just 2 months ago. The unlocking process was essentially just going to ATT website and typing in the IMEI and they unlock it within 15 minutes for free. I assume all the "pay $10 to unlock your phone" services are just counting on the average person being too lazy to discover your can just do the legwork yourself.

Uber specifically.
JRKrause··on Kenya launches largest wind power plant in Africa
I visited Kenya last November and used their local Uber quite a bit. This ended up being a very effective way to meet technically inclined and entrepreneurial Kenyans. Talking with these people gave me a lot of optimism for their future, there's a lot of hunger (unintended pun...) and talent waiting to be utilized there. I really hope they continue to see development that will leverage and grow their technical skill base.
JRKrause··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (July 2019)
Engineer with 5 years experience in early stage hardware startups. I am no stranger to work environments in which I am required to take sole ownership of a variety of tasks and ensure their completion with little oversight. I am classically trained as an Electrical engineer but hoping to find a way to leverage my analytical skills to break into the machine learning and data science industry.

JRKrause··on Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX Investigation Preliminary Report
Refer to the graph on Appendix 1, the automatic AND commands begin about 5 minutes before the crash. They counter them partially with the manual ANU electric trim for the first 1.5 minutes before issuing STAB CUTOUT.
JRKrause··on Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX Investigation Preliminary Report
This bulletin notes that electric stabilizer can be used to neutralize the control column prior to STAB CUTOUT, which it appears the Ethiopian crew did not do.
JRKrause··on Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX Investigation Preliminary Report
The manual electric trim inputs override the MCAS inputs[0], so they could have kept applying the appropriate trim regardless of the MCAS malfunction.

[0] Appendix 1, 05:40:30 (You can see the AND command being canceled by the pilots manual electric ANU command)
