It can be a factual statement about the commercial VPN landscape at large, but an incorrect statement about many individual VPN providers. It lacks nuance as a statement.

Itoldmyselfso··on Your phone is about to stop being yours
Motorola devices that match the GrapheneOS requirements are coming next year. It's good thing they're not compromising on hardware requirements that would undermine the goals of the project. If there's anyone to blame it's the dismal state of affairs on the hardware security side of my most Android phone manufacturers.

Their app also blocks the use of it on GrapheneOS, for no proper reason.

Agreed. Sandboxed Google play really is the non-tinkerer's approach on GOS, including for Android Auto.

Itoldmyselfso··on Motorola GrapheneOS devices will be bootloader unlockable/relockable
Pixel camera app is fully supported by GOS, you just install it from Play store (or from other sources). If you don't have Google Photos installed the last photo preview won't work, but you can install a 'shim' app that fixes it without need for Photos app: https://github.com/lukaspieper/Gcam-Services-Provider

Itoldmyselfso··on Motorola GrapheneOS devices will be bootloader unlockable/relockable
Sandboxed Google Play receives no special access at all, so you can deny it all permissions if you want, but you should grant network (and maybe notifications) permission for it to actually function.

The claim that it actually has any measurable effect on the collective health and well-being currently lacks any proof besides "intuition".
Itoldmyselfso··on /e/OS is a complete, fully “deGoogled” mobile ecosystem
Motorola just made a deal with GrapheneOS, so I'd vager they're going to be around for longer on that basis alone.
Itoldmyselfso··on /e/OS is a complete, fully “deGoogled” mobile ecosystem
It is an entirely realistic scenario which afaik data backs up that most people don't change their default privacy related settings which Google profits from, but in case of actually setting their provided privacy settings ON, they do work.
Itoldmyselfso··on /e/OS is a complete, fully “deGoogled” mobile ecosystem
You can buy used Pixel, effectively not giving money to Google, or buy a Motorola when their GOS phone is released
Itoldmyselfso··on Block the “Upgrade to Tahoe” alerts
I also accidentally upgraded due dark pattern of auto-selecting Sequoia instead of update for Sonoma. Now my external monitor won't wake up when waking my macbook from sleep (in clamshell mode, lid always closed). Nothing fixes it, beyond infuriating.
Itoldmyselfso··on The United States and Israel have launched a major attack on Iran
The attack was reportedly timed for a surprise attack on Iranian leaders who happened to be in the same location at this time. They even attacked during the daytime for a risky surprise attack. To suggest the attack had anything to do with the holiday is beyond ridiculous. Also ridiculous to think they would intentionally attack a random school.

Itoldmyselfso··on GrapheneOS – Break Free from Google and Apple
You are not independent from Google if you purchase an android device from another manufacturer. You're then having your data sent to both Google and that manufacturer, resulting in far worse privacy overall than with just Google, not to mention worse security at hardware level. If you don't want to "support" Google, just buy any used Pixel 6 to 10 series.

Itoldmyselfso··on On privacy and control
1. It's not possible to root GrapheneOS or any Android-based OS and preserve the Android security model. That would run entirely counter to the goal of the GOS. It can be done but shouldn't.

2. They have implemented kill switches for these on the software level. Afaik there's nothing up dispute these working just as well as hardware switches assuming proper verified install of GOS.

Itoldmyselfso··on On privacy and control
Microsoft authenticator should work on GOS, I can only find single person saying it doesn't but there's plenty of reasons it might not work for them (vpn, too strict exploit protection settings). And there's multiple people mentioning it working fine.
