gpt4.1 works surprisingly well although it is not as proactive as Sonnet.
Imanari··on Ask HN: Who is doing the best Word/PDF RAG tool with deep research?
This ranking is just for the parsing, not the RAG Portion, correct?
Imanari··on My experience with Claude Code after two weeks of adventures
You can use it via openrouter.ai

I tried gemini2.5 and while it is certainly a very strong model you really notice that it was not trained to be 'agentic'/with strong initiative for tool calling. Oftentimes it would make a plan, I'd say 'go ahead' and it just replied something like 'I made a todo list we are ready to implement' or something similar lol. You really had to push it to action and the whole CC experience fell apart a bit.

The recent Kimi-K2 supposedly works great.

Imanari··on Cursor 1.0
CC is more autonomous, which can be a double edged sword. In big codebases you usually don't want to make large changes and edit multiple files. And even if you do, letting the LLM decide what files to edit increases the chance for errors. I like Aider better aswell. It's a precision tool and with some /run it is pretty flexible for debugging.
Imanari··on Cursor 1.0
How are you using more concurrent sessions?
Imanari··on Claude Code SDK
Then use /ask mode. If this still edits your files something is broken.

Imanari··on Ask HN: How much better are AI IDEs vs. copy pasting into chat apps?
Same here, I'd even say you made the learning curve sound worse than it is, no offence :)

This is my workflow for 90% of tasks:

1) /ask: I want to do X. / How would you do X? / What options do I have for X?

2) (optional) /ask>: make these adaptations / consider this / follow up question.

3) "go ahead" (this defaults to /code mode)

For a model I like the style of Sonnet3.7 best.

One caveat: I add my files manually. Knowing what you want and where you want it is 90% of the game and this is where LLMs usually get it wrong.

Amazing work. Could you elaborate on the model architecture and the process that lead you to using this architecture?

It is less autonomous but I consider it a feature, it's more of a precision tool.

Imanari··on RAG Without Vectors – PageIndex: Reasoning-Based Document Indexing
Thanks! I have thought about similar approaches of iteratively building the content-graph of your document base, as you described. I worry about scaling, though. IIUC both previous_structure and current content must fit into context while previous_structure is getting bigger with each iteration, correct?

EDIT: follow up question, how long does the structure-building take for 100 pages and how big are the chunks you are feeding in?

Imanari··on RAG Without Vectors – PageIndex: Reasoning-Based Document Indexing
Interesting work! How do you construct the relationship between nodes if not all documents fit into context?

Imanari··on DeepSeek-R1 Exhibits Deceptive Alignment: AI That Knows It's Unsafe
> It acknowledges that these behaviours are unsafe when its own outputs are fed back to it.

This is the typical "Ah yes you are right, I made a mistake. Let's correct the thing...."-type hallucination or whatever you want to call it. Calling it power-seeking or deceptive behaviour I find overblown.

We will see, maybe models do get good enough but I think we are underestimating these last few percent of improvement.

maybe let it reason in latent space but have a method to transform and output it to text for inspection.

Love aider, thank you for your work! Out of curiousity, what are your future plans and ideas for aider in terms of features and workflow?
Imanari··on DeepSeek-R1: Incentivizing Reasoning Capability in LLMs via RL
Question about the rule-based rewards (correctness and format) mentioned in the paper: Does the raw base model just expected “stumble upon“ a correct answer /correct format to get a reward and start the learning process? Are there any more details about the reward modelling?
Imanari··on TinyZero
I was wondering the same thing. I feel there is too large of a gap between a raw base model and and a model that produces fully correct answers and follows a specific format. My guess is their rule base reward system is more nuanced than just correctness and format.
Imanari··on DeepSeek-R1
benchmark performance seems to hold up on the aider benchmark. R1 comes in on the second place with 56.9% behind O1's 61.7%.

Imanari··on smolagents: A simple library to build AI agents
From the text_to_sql example: [0]

My question: "Which waiter got second most total money from tips? create a jpeg with a bar chart of the total tips for each waiter."

Step 0 included a correct sql query. Step 1 included python code with matplotlib, which failed because matplotlib was not in the allowed imports. The system then pivoted to another python script which printed a bar plot with ## characters.

Final answer: The waiter with the second most total tips is Corey Johnson

Bar Chart of Total Tips for Each Waiter:

Michael Watts ################################################## (5.67)

Corey Johnson ########## (1.2)

Margaret James ######## (1.0)
