ImHereToVote··on The slow collapse of critical thinking in OSINT due to AI
The trouble with OSINT is that they often take the opinions of "good" government officials and journalists at face value.

This sort of lazy thinking doesn't miss a beat when it comes to take the opinions of an LLM at face value.

Why not? It sounds mostly the same. The motivations to believe AI, is exactly the same as the motivation to believe government officials and journalists.

ImHereToVote··on Tracing the thoughts of a large language model
I feel this is similar to how humans talk. I never consciously think about the words I choose. They just are spouted off based on some loose relation to what I am thinking about at a given time. Sometimes the process fails, and I say the wrong thing. I quickly backtrack and switch to a slower "rate of fire".
ImHereToVote··on The PhD Metagame: Don't try to reform science – not yet
Just pick a position you feel strongly about and imagine how your world would change if it was false. How your relationships would change. How stupid your previous statements would be.

Pick anything. Climate change is a big one. I would definitely have to eat some chaff if it was shown to be false personally.

ImHereToVote··on The Pain That Is GitHub Actions
GitHub actions is nice. People are just not accustomed to being punched in the face. The stuff I work on regularly makes GitHub actions seem like a Hello World app.
ImHereToVote··on The Intenet Slum: is abandoning the Internet the next big thing? (2004)
The Yookay is cooked.
ImHereToVote··on The PhD Metagame: Don't try to reform science – not yet
There is right now a thing that you believe strongly that is false. If someone were to point it out to you you would get angry. C'est la vie.
ImHereToVote··on Show HN: Evolving Agents Framework
I hope this causes a catastrophe somewhere. This might be the warning shot that humanity needs to wake up, before we hook up spiking neuromorphic hardware to run agents.

I think what you are trying to say is that the average American is absurdly poor.
ImHereToVote··on OpenCFS (Coupled Field Simulation)
Looks really interesting. Is this feasible to use for acoustic simulation inside buildings?
ImHereToVote··on AI-designed chips are so weird that 'humans cannot understand them'
Yeah, anthropic bugs. The planet is infested with them.
ImHereToVote··on AI-designed chips are so weird that 'humans cannot understand them'
I believe neuromorphic spiking hardware will be the step to truly revolutionize the field of anthropod contagion issues.

The irony the eurodollar system already works like decentralized crypto. There is a ledger of assets and liabilities and the international banks keep tabs on each other.

The dying frog asks the scorpion why it stung despite knowing the consequence, to which the scorpion replies: "I am sorry, but I couldn't help myself. It's my character."
ImHereToVote··on So Many Unmarried Men
Financialization of society doesn't account for externalities.
ImHereToVote··on WASM-Native Orchestration
You would need Middle-out compression for this to scale. Lepton from Dropbox uses Middle-out to compress jpg images.

ImHereToVote··on jj: a Git-compatible VCS that is both simple and powerful
I second the copy paste solution. I don't understand devs that cherrypick.
ImHereToVote··on The hallucinatory thoughts of the dying mind
It might be the latent space hidden in the deep parts of our brain.
ImHereToVote··on The hallucinatory thoughts of the dying mind
I often notice these demented moments before I fall asleep. Completely nonsensical thoughts like the argument from bear bicyclist study when you need to turnkey.
ImHereToVote··on AI Takeover Might Happen in 2 Years
The sad thing about all of this is that any position you take on this matter, becomes a sort of call to a battle of wits between very cunning fighters that protect their intellectual terf. At least when Baboons get tribal, they are fighting over blood and soil.
ImHereToVote··on LLMs can teach themselves to better predict the future
Kinda what convolution in animal brains detects outlines of moving objects. It's statistics all the way down.

I mostly see people get anxious over people being worried about ASI to be honest.
