IlikeKitties··on Apple has locked my Apple ID, and I have no recourse. A plea for help

IlikeKitties··on Poor Johnny still won't encrypt
> He needs it to be reliable first, secure second.

Than he should use something else. I need signal to be secure first, second and third and reliable in edge cases like this a distant number.

IlikeKitties··on Nuclear energy key to decarbonising Europe, says EESC
Nuclear Energy is incredibly expensive and has a lot of other issues like long term waste storage. It's arguably better than Coal and Gas but the KEY to decarbonisation is and always will be renewables. The Headline is rather misleading in that regard.

Anyways, solar is also cheaper

IlikeKitties··on EFF launches Age Verification Hub
If you haven't figured out this is a push by the WEF for digital identity and an end of anonymity on the internet you can't be helped. They are LITERALLY saying it out loud https://nitter.net/JimFergusonUK/status/1988514762896855155

Why do you think there's a global push all at once for this? Anyway I'll order a bunch of cheap USB Sticks, load them up with porn and gore and drop them at school yards at night then. If we do that enough we can make using USB Devices require ID Soon enough.

IlikeKitties··on Microsoft has a problem: lack of demand for its AI products
> So, my question to anyone in the Microsoft C-suite: have you ever tried to, like, actually use, like anything that you're selling? Because if you would have, the failings would have been obvious, right? Right??

They all use Macs lol.

IlikeKitties··on UK Government plans new powers to label dissenting movements as 'subversion'
Hm... This is a fascinating puzzle. Is it AIPAC?
IlikeKitties··on UK Government plans new powers to label dissenting movements as 'subversion'
lol i doubt it i've been f5'ing this cause i'm curious but i genuinely don't know. Prince Andrew? Jeffrey Epstein? Israel? Palestine? Hamas? Saudi Arabia? Quatar? Trump? Tories? Reform Party? Gurkhas? Rape Gangs? (I can't think of anything more...)
IlikeKitties··on UK Government plans new powers to label dissenting movements as 'subversion'
German here, which entity is that?
IlikeKitties··on Don't push AI down our throats
My Healthcare providers App in Germany refuses to work on anything that isn't a Phone running official Google^tm verified^(r) and hardware attested OS. Same with some banks.
IlikeKitties··on EU Council Approves New "Chat Control" Mandate Pushing Mass Surveillance
> Hi Mom, please install this peer to peer dark net chat to talk to me in the future, thanks Oh honey, why don't we just use iMessage instead. Thx bye.
IlikeKitties··on Most Stable Raspberry Pi? Better NTP with Thermal Management
The timing crystals don't work better when colder but worse. That's why they are heated in high end time appliances, not cooled.
IlikeKitties··on Most Stable Raspberry Pi? Better NTP with Thermal Management
> I half wonder if adding a larger heatsink, or even putting thermal mass around the existing oscillator could also help, or if the heating is more localized in the PCB itself.

That would likely make it worse. The trick here is that the other cores are running at essentially their maximum temperature and and will dynamically reduce their clockspeed if required to keep from going above that limit. In essence, the environment becomes actively temperature controlled. If the ambient heat goes higher, the cores clock lower, if it gets colder the cores clock higher (up to a point).

If you add too much heat dissipation, the total power used by those cores might not be enough to keep well above ambient.

IlikeKitties··on Google's new 'Aluminium OS' project brings Android to PC
They hated him because he spoke the truth. An up to date ChromeOS is extremly secure compared to the non-existant security model of the linux desktop. Only Secureblue or QubesOS come even close.
IlikeKitties··on The Censorship Network: Regulation and Repression in Germany Today
The violation of rights already began with the investigation for what anyone in good faith would consider satire. Even being investigated for this means having to defend oneself, perhaps hire an attorney, in case of this defendant having to have a gofundme equivalent to pay for it. Would you like to go to court for every post you do online? I cannot fathom how you cannot see that this is obviously designed to intimidate students criticizing the Bundeswehr or being violated by a medical examination as a draft preperation.

Young people have to shut up and take it and if they don't, hope your pocketmoney covers attorneys fees!

Just read the context of what happened here, it's easy to find. They did shit like using their mass suriveillance tech to find the phone this OBVIOUS SATIRE was posted from[0]

That picture did not suggest someone is part of the SS but that someone in the Bundeswher might have contacts to SS People. To argue that this should even go in front of a judge is insanity.

Every carnival float in Düsseldorf every year would have to be evaluated by a judge than. Just a RANDOM example: https://www1.wdr.de/nachrichten/motivwaegen-von-jacques-till...

Freedom of speech includes satire. To ignore that is the exact chilling effect I mentioned.

IlikeKitties··on The Censorship Network: Regulation and Repression in Germany Today
You have not looked into all examples. Trusted flaggers have been used to suppress people they personally disagree with.

Just recently the wrong comment caused another home invasion by the police that drew wide criticism

The Article I linked about the Bundeswehr was about a students satire against the military.

And in the 60 Minute interview the prosecutors literally admit that they use illegal searches of your home as a punishment.

> A bit of modern McCarthyism might be necessary.

I can't believe I have to write this: McCarthyism was a BAD thing that caused harm to a lot of people and did NOTHING to preserve liberty and freedom.

Germany is very much implementing censorship by chilling effect.

IlikeKitties··on France is taking state actions against GrapheneOS?
It's because GrapheneOS is very black and white and reactive in their communication. 4chan found them ages ago and there's a daily GrapheneOS Thread on /g/.
IlikeKitties··on France is taking state actions against GrapheneOS?
> We need to just accept that any technology designed for security and privacy is always going to be a double-edged sword.

I agree, therefore it should be my legal right to use such technology. Like a 2A for encryption and privacy

IlikeKitties··on France is taking state actions against GrapheneOS?
It's palantir.
IlikeKitties··on Verifying your Matrix devices is becoming mandatory
Argue with the people in this thread that made this argument.
IlikeKitties··on Verifying your Matrix devices is becoming mandatory
> Despite all the gnashing of teeth in this thread, this seems reasonable

I think it's not the requirement itself that's the crucible of discussion but the issues are rather that the blog post should have explicitly defined what verification is in it's second sentence and that matrix/element still is barely useable even for reasonably technical users.

IlikeKitties··on Europe's cookie nightmare is crumbling. EC wants preference at browser level
When the Digital Services/Markets Act was written this was actually considered. But there's also companies that surveil your browsing data and sell that for other purposes not just advertisement. Market Research and such. I'd have been for a blanket ban though.

Sadly, this is mostly a matter of not enforcing the GDPR enough. Things such as "data minimization" and the erosion of "technically necessary" already should protect us. Instead the Business Community chose malicious compliance on a vast scale and the data protection agencies did nothing.

IlikeKitties··on Gemini 3
Something about bringing balance to the force not destroying it.
IlikeKitties··on A day at Hetzner Online in the Falkenstein data center
"Mittelstand" in Germany seems to be roughly: below 500 Employees, below 50 Million € turnover. Hetzner makes more like 400 Million € turnover but with 300 Employees. So it's technically above it but they are propably a very tight margin buisness. As such i'd say yes.
IlikeKitties··on £220 'for a cut-up sock' — Apples's new iPhone Pocket ridiculed online
Fact: Most Hotels provide dedicated chairs for buyers of this product.
IlikeKitties··on Android developer verification: Early access starts
The issue is that of network effects. Making it harder to sideload for example f-droid makes the already small market for it even smaller, leading to less apps. It also forces people developing Apps that they don't want to reveal to be developing for completly valid reasons (Imagine developing a porn app in saudi arabia or an abortion support app in the USA) to validate against google aka the US Government.
IlikeKitties··on Steam Machine
>Yes, Steam Machine is optimized for gaming, but it's still your PC. Install your own apps, or even another operating system. Who are we to tell you how to use your computer?

In a world of locked bootloaders and ever more locked down device, valve is pushing the envolope with a linux based gaming console.

IlikeKitties··on Fighting the New York Times' invasion of user privacy
> OpenAI had also shariah policed plenty of people for generating erotica.

That framing is retorically brilliant if you think about it. I will use that more. Chat Sharia Law for Chat Control. Mass Sharia Surveillance from flock etc.
