What good is VLAN if an attacker breaks into your router? (non-rhetorical question) He could forge any packets and networks after that. I also have doubts in my separate wire setup (data LAN + management LAN) because any device with both cables attached can potentially be made into a bridge.

Thanks! I came to this thread for alternatives and you delivered.

In all these years I've yet to see another person (other than me) to use ramdrive for temporary files. Is everyone okay with slow compilation and SSD rape or am I missing something?

Wow. RAD was bought by Epic? I kinda missed that. Feels old. :(

Because that must be helluva drone!

You truly have some bias in your definition of dictatorship.

I've never been so sad about a complete "stranger" and foreigner in my life. If any petition can help, I'll sign it.

It's not just a matter of love or hate. Firefox starts for THREE MINUTES on 22.04 as opposed to a few seconds on 20.04

Ed: actually, yes, that makes me hate SNAPs

This bothers me too, very much. GTK and especially Firefox UI is so awkward and out-of-place in KDE (and in general, IMO). I even tried switching to Falkon.

Holy sh-. This is literally disturbing stuff right there. I didn't even suspect that such things may exist! Thanks!

Thanks from the fans of shiny physical media out there :)

Not a word on M-Discs? o.O Weird.

Even worse for me:

Your browser is out of date! Update your browser to view this website correctly. More Information.

and constantly reloads in hope that my browser does update somehow :D

Rockstar, being major deeks to open-source projects, deserve this to the fullest.

what a sad story!

and then spends months finding and undoing. And writes this comment. Can confirm.

I drilled two holes in my laptop as it had no room for VGA cable screws :D (about 2y ago)

I'm 100% sure I can repair USB-A 2.0 host and cable connectors with common soldering iron.

I'm almost sure I can repair USB-A 3.0 connectors.

I'm 90% sure I won't be able to fix even 2.0 USB-C without help of special tools and a microscope, not to mention hand tremor. (

Sony, AFAIK, still gurantees boot unlocking, so, they're cool. But the price...

USB-A is only unsuitable for small handheld devices, but is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO less confusing than all others!

It's all inside. The wow64, very good management, etc. etc. And Win7 is the last to have the "no desktop compositor" (aka "win95 looks") fallback.

I'm still running win7+linux with no reasonable urge to update on X140. Win11 brings no improvement to my life and I doubt anyone else's.

I did not read the article on purpose at first. Because I KNEW it would be ThinkPad!

PS: guess what I'm typing this on :D

You didn't even have to have a supercomputer as common Opteron systems pretty much had more than 8 cores. So, someone would definitely notice that. Especially AMD. :)

As much as I appreciate these articles... Guys... Please don't save up on ink! Eyes are more expensive than black pixel paint these days.

Not American, but can confirm. And I think the statement can be generalized to most, if not all, urban population, sadly. I've been observing this problem for at least 10 years, and EVERY age group is affected. And also, among people I know, the farther from large cities they live, the better they feel. (EDIT: I was implying that COVID may have boosted something that was already a trend before it)

Because it's the only option? When I was writing my PHD thesis in Word 2003, there was no other possibility to generate list of references than to write the script yourself. So I did. This doc is still lying around somewhere and probably works. While not very pretty, still more readable than Perl or Python :D

C++ is becoming too safe. I guess I have to move to C to stay in shape!

As a person who can't distinguish between people and a government, you don't.

That sounds really offensive, and not to the companies.
