Yes, but you've surely met people who giggled when they read that.

Only because it doesn't contain RAM.

Pretty much. Everyone seems to think prices will come back down, but I don't agree.

I'm in the US and _I_ don't want us to get credit. Even the worst of people do something good every now and then. But if you reward that, they won't change.
HumblyTossed··on Xiaomi: New CPU matches Apple cores single threaded, much faster multithreaded
Is it really this fast or just this fast on benchmarks?
HumblyTossed··on There's no reason for software to be slow anymore
Incentive has shifted. It’s now more important to worry about “developer productivity” and churning out as much code as quickly as possible than it is to spend time optimizing that code.

> Would you still vote not guilty to protect their civil liberties, if you had information not shared with the jury that removed your reasonable doubt?

That is a different scenario to what was described by the person you replied to, no?

And if one were to get that information the way you describe, that is surely jury tampering. That should be reported.

> This argument is unfortunately flawed. If the customers had been handed the software on day 1, by day 100 it would be full of security bugs

Stop. This doesn't have to be true...

> Oh and they'd have to maintain mobile apps on Android and iOS as those platforms change and break things. They might need to buy cyber risk insurance too.

This worked just fine, also, until Apple decided to have meetings with devs of popular software to push for subscriptions. Not we have the current state of bullshit.

But if we learn anything from big corporations, they'll keep the difference as profits. IOW, Apple won't be lowering their prices.

Nobody cares about AI. Nobody wants that shit running on their device eating away at precious battery life.

What the heck does this defeatist argument have to do with it???
HumblyTossed··on Exercise intensity modulates interorgan communication and is associated with
Probably not. They'll train like hell for a few weeks, their bodies unable to properly recover, they'll feel wrecked the entire time and they will never develop the habit of exercise.

Likely best for most people is to just start moving and once you have _actually_ established the habit of exercise, slowly add intensity. Let your body accommodate.

Sadly so much of that, people are actively trying to undo it.
HumblyTossed··on Universal health coverage could save $1T and 114k lives a year: study
And this is precisely why nothing will ever change. I tell everyone who will listen to me on my soap box, we will never get universal healthcare until we divorce healthcare from employment (by that I mean, make it to where businesses cannot offer benefits at all).

Personally, I would retire early. I have enough to cover bills and reasonable HC costs, but the way it is now, I'll just keep plugging away for a few more years.

Weak argument. People don't have infinite time. People just want tools they trust and that aren't enshitified.

I'm taking the person you are replying to as being snarky. But, I believe OP is right, treat these with zero trust.

HumblyTossed··on Show HN: iPhone app takes simultaneous images from 2 lenses, fuses into 1 photo
For some time how, when you have the camera open and lining up a shot, iOS is taking image after image. When you press the shutter, algorithms determine the best or sharpest shot and processes it further.

Phil introduced it with iPhone 11 as "deep fusion"
