HardwareLust··on Shutterstock to pay $35M over hard-to-cancel subscriptions
The law should be simple. It should take the same amount of effort, or less, to unsubscribe as it did to subscribe.
HardwareLust··on China deploys first wind-powered ocean-cooled underwater data center
Original title: China says 'world's first' offshore wind-powered underwater data center has entered full operation, houses 2,000 servers — 24 megawatt subsea AI facility uses ocean water for passive cooling and offshore wind for power.

HardwareLust··on Ask HN: How long do you commute by car each day?
When I lived in Seattle, it was 75 minutes each way (58 mi), if traffic was good. I later moved to Philly, and it was 4.7 miles each way, which was usually about 15 minutes. Now my 'commute' is about 6 feet from bed to desk, with a detour to the kitchen to make coffee and feed the cat.

It's not who killed it, it's what killed it and the answer is greed.

HardwareLust··on Is it too late to build a "Spotify for art" in the age of AI?
What's your angle here? You're creating another marketplace for artists to sell their art. Since Etsy already exists, what are you giving me that they don't? And what will you do to stem the tide of AI slop that will inevitably arise?

HardwareLust··on How Beyond Meat sank from a $14B plant-based protein powerhouse to a penny stock
I'm with you. I'm not eating it for philosophical reasons and it's an interesting exercise at best. In the end I'm going with actual meat because it's readily available, half the price and it tastes good.
HardwareLust··on How Beyond Meat sank from a $14B plant-based protein powerhouse to a penny stock
I just never liked their products because none of them tasted very good. Impossible products are much more palatable imo, especially their burgers.
