GotAnyMegadeth··on Why I’m done with Apple
When people write articles like this I always assume they are going to say something like "I used to have an iPhone and I've found that the x is the same but better, and I used to have the iPad and I've found y is the same but cheaper". But instead it's a list of complaints with no solution.

I'm done with Toyota cars because they always run out of petrol!

GotAnyMegadeth··on How Breakfast Became a Thing
I'm guessing the result was:

Ve, a proposed gender-neutral pronoun [0]

I hadn't heard of it either.

GotAnyMegadeth··on Future Screens Are Mostly Blue
Does purple count? Aubergines and grapes are purple, as are some root vegetables like beetroot, turnips and carrots [0].

GotAnyMegadeth··on Why Twitter has run into trouble
How is the user supposed to know how many people is a good amount to follow? I think that is Twitter's problem, not the user's.
GotAnyMegadeth··on Facebook and How UIs Twist Your Words
This is not the case with my setup. Win7 Chrome

I also see this with one of my brothers' names which is Olly <surname>.

Some animals (and people) with eyes are blind and so probably don't react when you shine a light at them.
GotAnyMegadeth··on Suspension Bridges of Disbelief
The idea of gluing Lego makes me feel really uneasy for some reason.
GotAnyMegadeth··on Scientists Discover The Oldest, Largest Body Of Water In Space
I think the line underneath was better

"The new cloud of water is enough to supply 28 galaxies with water."

GotAnyMegadeth··on Origin of the name “Google”
I was taught what a googol was (with the correct spelling) 10 years ago when I was in year 10 at secondary school by my teacher Mrs Humble. I was sat in between Kaylee and Simon, it was summer. Also it was the correct answer for the final question of the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire episode where Major Ingram cheated to win £1M. I remember watching the documentary about that episode in a caravan in Wales and thinking "I could have won £1M!".
GotAnyMegadeth··on I am shutting down my bookstore in New Delhi
I don't think everyone would agree that album discoveries happen better in stores. They certainly don't for me, I would guess like most things it's subjective.

Thankyou I didn't know you could revert back to the old behaviour

GotAnyMegadeth··on Gamer beats both Mega Man X and Mega Man X2 using the same controller
This is blocked by my work, is it just a blog with a link to a YouTube video? Could someone post it here if it is? Thanks

GotAnyMegadeth··on Teenager Charged with Felony for Changing Teacher's Desktop Photo
One time someone logged onto one of the grumpiest teacher's accounts at college and sent an email out to everyone saying "I love you x". We were in class and he had just finished a presentation and was still projecting his desktop behind him. Notifications were popping up saying "I love you too!" every second. So funny. Poor guy.
GotAnyMegadeth··on How To Think About Chess
I spent AGES trying to choose an easily pronounceable, non ambiguously spelled name for last project as I expected to have to tell people it a lot. A typical conversation goes:

"Just go to playlistful.com and..."

"Urgh, can't you just send me a link?"

Perhaps what features you select is determined by another feature that some else selected for you
GotAnyMegadeth··on We Buy Broken Gold
I was once present for a very awkward conversation where a husband told us that his wife's ring was second hand in front of her and she was shocked. He thought she knew him well enough to know that he'd never buy one first hand...
GotAnyMegadeth··on Things Every Kid Should Master
On the other hand some people are too socially aware and are worried that they are bad at conversation when they are not.
GotAnyMegadeth··on Show HN: Gamer's Edition – crowdfunding game special editions using Tilt API
This looks really cool. Although I don't know any of the games you have on there so far, I'd definitely consider this for games that I do love.
GotAnyMegadeth··on Notes on John Carpenter’s “The Thing”
Do you have any links to those pictures? "The Thing" is pretty hard to Google.

GotAnyMegadeth··on Ask HN: Why is there no solution for direct democracy?
Not everyone has phones.
GotAnyMegadeth··on Get away with Google Flights
Minor complaint: the first thing I tried to do was try to find a flight from anywhere in the UK to anywhere in Slovenia. Whilst it lets me be vague about my destination, it doesn't seem to about my starting point... Skyscanner lets me do this
GotAnyMegadeth··on Help Me HN: I am getting overwhelmed
Not sure how the pricing of your service works, but try increasing the price. If you do it carefully you might reduce the number of customers (and therefore bug reports) and not change your take home.

Could you make something like this that fell down when the Moon was over it, or something similar using the Moon's gravity?
GotAnyMegadeth··on Ask HN: I get bored while programming?
You don't need passion if it's just a job. It might be boring, but most jobs are boring.
