Gonzih··on Ask HN: How did you become fluent in English?
Read a lot to build up your vocabulary. Then after vocabulary is there you can start consuming multimedia content in English (movies/tv-series). You can start with subtitles if it helps at first. At some point need in subtitles will just go away. And then just try to talk as much as you can in English. Listen to how native speakers contstruct sentences, try to replicate that on the fly in your speech.
Gonzih··on Ask HN: What tech stack would you choose for a serious, long-term business app
Postgres + Go + Vue.js + Redis + AWS

Go with or without any framework (like Buffalo)

Vuejs with Vuex

Gonzih··on Postmortem of Service Outage at 3.4M Concurrent Users
PUBG combines great game design with terrible technical implementation and bad community management. I'm with you on hoping that epic will succeed in a long run.
Gonzih··on “Last Mile” Barriers to Removing Legacy BIOS [pdf]
I run Linux in legacy mode on my 4 machines. UEFI for me was extra complexity without any gain. Sad to see that's uefi is gonna be only option in the future.
Gonzih··on Napa.js: A multi-threaded JavaScript runtime
But what about dealing with ffi, build dependencies and toolchains? Sounds like it is just shifting complexity in to a different place, not actually solving it.
Gonzih··on Napa.js: A multi-threaded JavaScript runtime
So just because shared memory is hard you are ok with sacrificing performance and replacing memory access with io hops? That sounds like an overkill and not suitable for every task.
Gonzih··on Napa.js: A multi-threaded JavaScript runtime
This is actually very similar to your idea. Each worker is executed in a separate v8 instance and napa provides a way to communicate between workers. A bit more efficient since you dont carry container runtime around.
Gonzih··on Grafana: Postgres Data Source
Yes, we usa grafana in our team, but only isolated on internal network and with access only to 12 team members, so no real need for roles etc. We use zabbix, elasticsearch and graphite data sources. Works like a charm in our case, also embedded graphs are not ideal, but useful for internal dashboards and etc. So very positive experience so far. Before grafana integration we had kibana + graphite + zabbix as a 3 separate things.
Gonzih··on TerrariaClone – An incomprehensible hellscape of spaghetti code
> no code was too verbose or horrible to stop me from progressing towards my goal

Sounds like programming in go :)

PS. It's a joke, I enjoy go myself.

Gonzih··on Matcha – A framework for building iOS and Android apps in Go
For me biggest disadvantage of RN is JSX. It was not bad idea originally, but at this point its very complicated thig full of edge cases.
Gonzih··on Thinkpad X62
Im thinking about upgrading my second laptop from x200 -> x220. That sounds like a promising change. I still struggle with low contrast screen on x200 sometimes.
Gonzih··on A lingering farewell to the username
So how is it gonna work now if I use irc gateway?
Gonzih··on Ask HN: What Go framework for web API are you using in production?
Yeah, I had really good experience with httprouter also. Everything in production is based on it.
Gonzih··on Facebook recruiting and Unix systems
HR is basically keyword matching nowadays, person doing hiring is completely unaware of intricate details of the domain, it applies not just for IT.
Gonzih··on Remake – GNU Make with comprehensible tracing and a debugger
thanks, had no idea about that.
Gonzih··on Remake – GNU Make with comprehensible tracing and a debugger
sourceforge is a scary place to get your software from
Gonzih··on Status: Investigating reports of connectivity issues
gogs is also open source, simpler and smaller than gitlab. also viable alternative i think.
Gonzih··on Tools for Remote Software Development and Pair Programming
I use appear.in and/or vnc nowadays a lot for pair programming.
Gonzih··on Tools for Remote Software Development and Pair Programming
You can avoid a lot of back tracking that happens during PR process by just simple applying human contact and clear communication during the feature implementation. I really don't like when people who are unable to work with others force everyone in to asocial PR mindset.
Gonzih··on “We currently have no plans to support Xwayland”
You can also just sell gpu and get one that works with your setup. Not ideal solution, but it depends on your priorities.
Gonzih··on ZFS Is the Best Filesystem For Now
> I think it's just a package install away on many Linux distros? Also installable on macOS — I had a ZFS USB disk I shared between Mac and FreeBSD.

Having your root on a filesystem that is provided with your kernel is not ideal situation, update issues make your system basically unbootable.

Gonzih··on Benefits of named return values in Go
Yes, you are correct. Doing var return MyStruct {} at the beginning of the function would do exactly the same thing as naming return value.
Gonzih··on Things to Use Instead of JSON Web Tokens
One should always validate algorithm before doing anything with JWT on the server side.
Gonzih··on Proposal to start a new implementation of Thunderbird based on web technologies
I agree about search, but I don't think that rewrite using web technologies is good solution to this particular problem.
Gonzih··on Proposal to start a new implementation of Thunderbird based on web technologies
Please no. Im very happy with current state of Thunderbird.
Gonzih··on Electron is flash for the desktop (2016)
telegram-desktop and telegram for mac are different projects
Gonzih··on Electron is flash for the desktop (2016)
Telegram Desktop is very good example of modern desktop client done in the most efficient way. C++ and qt, nothing else. Works like a charm an all major operating systems. Easy to install, use and update. Great stuff.
Gonzih··on Web Development in Go
go has very well established ecosystem to do low level networking in a very efficient manner. that is based on my experience. you can use go for different problems, but then tooling/libraries around that are not so great/stable. like gui programming for example, auido/video encoding/decoding.
Gonzih··on Web Development in Go
- ok, i did not look at example, sorry - for logging, but thats not enough - thanks for pointing out typo in an interesting way, yeah but blogpost just mentions custom library that should be glued to your webserver - custom library again glued to the server on every project

I would go for new projects with something different than go. Like scala. Go is great for rest apis, but once your app becomes more "complete" in terms of requirements go becomes more and more painful in my experience.
