Freskis··on The US Is a Banana Republic: The 1% Own More Wealth Than the Entire Middle Class
You are probably in the global 1%. What is your solution? You speak of violence. Will you give away all your savings and possessions to an impoverished Chinese or Indian peasant?
Freskis··on The US Is a Banana Republic: The 1% Own More Wealth Than the Entire Middle Class
Almost all Hacker News readers will be part of the global 1%, of course most people in the 1% don't consider themselves to be in the 1%.

Brave's business model is based on crypto-speculation.

Think of the type of business involved with that, and there's your answer.

Freskis··on Bitcoin is a Ponzi
Is it possible you are not being accurate? That the company is actually receiving cash which has been converted from Bitcoin by a service? Accepting raw Bitcoin would lead to huge problems such as transaction time and price volatility.

Either way, accepting bitcoin is horrifically bad for the environment, and one of the most ecologically destructive things tech companies do. It is not something I would be proud of.

Freskis··on Facebook Is Weaker Than We Knew
Facebook and Instagram.

Duff Beer and Duff Lite.

Freskis··on Facebook Is Weaker Than We Knew
Agree that Facebook Marketplace is good at the moment. I think this is because of the small number of people using it.

If it becomes mainstream then it will have the same problems as all other marketplace websites.

Freskis··on Facebook Is Weaker Than We Knew
To where?

Twitter and Instagram are just as bad as Facebook.

Reddit is magnitudes worse.

The amount of feature additions in the last 10 years has been enormous.

Is it possible you were playing an old "world" which doesn't have the latest features? Or were playing an older version (which is supported in the latest launcher)?

I think it's called "doomscrolling".
Freskis··on Gen Z members flock to climate careers
The article is describing a cult, so the language is going to be quite abstract and obtuse.
Freskis··on Gen Z members flock to climate careers
The Guardian is way more extreme than the Daily Mail. A better analog would be Breitbart.
Freskis··on Gen Z members flock to climate careers
The people in this article appear more like a cult than a science-based environment.

-Rachel Larrivee, 23, a sustainability consultant based in Boston

-Mimi Ausland, 25, the founder of Free the Ocean

-Matt Ellis-Ramirez, 22, a Chicago-based volunteer for the youth-led environmental activist organization the Sunrise Movement

-Brooke Hoese, a 24-year-old undergraduate in Texas pursuing a career in restoration ecology

Freskis··on Reddit seeks to hire advisers for U.S. IPO – sources
Probably. The evidence speaks for itself. Most of the reddit homepage is a hatefest of [ingroup] screaming hate at [outgroup]. It's so toxic as to beggar belief. Facebook and Twitter seems like prim decorum in comparison.
Freskis··on Reddit seeks to hire advisers for U.S. IPO – sources
Yes, Reddit surely has the worst community of all the big websites, it is magnitudes worse than Facebook/Twitter etc.

The website seems to encourage extremes of people screaming at each other and having fringe views from which dissension is forbidden.

It's a hellhole. Some of the smaller specialist subreddits are high quality though.
