Dig1t··on U.S. companies back Sam Altman's World ID even as much of the world pushes back
I don’t think what he said is whataboutism, the original claim was that this policy was related to the US becoming “most hated country”. But if it is just doing something that every other country is also doing, then it doesn’t seem like it’d move the needle much on “most hated country” status.
Dig1t··on Tesla discloses $2B AI hardware company acquisition in filing
I feel like you are intentionally ignoring my point, this ofc doesn't feel like a good faith discussion but I will engage anyway.

Bias comes in many forms. We can choose to not report things at all, we can choose to take neutral things and present them negatively, we can even take positive things and represent them as negatives, or we can choose to highlight negatives.

Elektrek is doing all of these.

Compare their coverage of Waymo's launch in Dallas to Tesla's. Their testing areas have very similar footprints, Waymo's is slightly larger but not by much.

Waymo's headline:

>Waymo adds 4 more cities to its robotaxi service, now 10 total (Tesla: still 0)

Tesla's headline:

>Tesla launches ‘Robotaxi’ in Houston and Dallas with tiny geofences

I mean if you cannot see the bias here then I would say you're just deliberately being bad faith.

One highlights Waymo's expansion as a positive while taking a deliberate swipe at Tesla, the other for some reason always puts "Robotaxi" in quotes and makes sure to emphasize how small it is directly in the headline.

6 months ago when Tesla launched robotaxi in Austin the service area was like twice as big as Waymo's, but do you think Elektrek reported it that way?

Reading this site really does remind me of Fox News.

If you want to see some positive things that Tesla is doing you can read other sites that actually publish that information.

>What has Tesla done positively lately?

Off the top of my head positives: the fact that they started production on the cybercab, the fact that they're rolling it out in all their testing locations and people have sighted it on the street, the fact that they started construction on the Optimus robot manufacturing plant which will have the capacity to make 10M robots per year.

>the semi has had no news of note

There is definitely news on the semi, it's just not being reported by people like Elektrek.

>California-based freight brokerage and asset-based carrier AiLO Logistics has launched a three-week operational pilot using the Tesla Semi truck.

>Tesla has said it has a few hundred Semis on the road with 13.5 million miles logged.

https://eletric-vehicles.com/tesla/tesla-semi-gains-traction...

The fact that you believe they have only done negative/evil things indicates that likely the news you are reading about them has some significant slant to it.

Dig1t··on Norway set to become latest country to ban social media for under 16s
Are there organic movements in Germany, UK, USA, Norway etc of common citizens agitating for social media controls for kids? Are they actually composed of citizens? Are they funded by grassroots organizations? I can tell you that in the USA there are basically no real grassroots efforts to censor social media, at least none with a real footprint that most people have ever heard of. Despite that, there are a lot of politicians making laws to clamp down on social media use.

I think most people can intuitively see that the number of people who talk about this as an issue does not at all match the amount of attention that politicians are giving it. All at the same time, in most western countries simultaneously. It just does not pass the smell test.

>you're going to think spooky coincidences are happening.

Nothing spooky about it, they are not coincidences, we can see that ideas are spreading between powerful politicians and the billionaire oligarchs across borders without any real input of the governed. Laws are being made, we are being given the "think of the children" line, and they are hoping that we will accept it.

Just because we can communicate across borders doesn't mean that countries should stop considering the needs of their citizens as their primary objective. The more we allow these efforts to cross borders without any objection or examination, the weaker the power of citizens becomes and the less effective democracy becomes.

Dig1t··on Norway set to become latest country to ban social media for under 16s
>political movements can be global.

You are saying exactly what OP is saying but just rephrasing it another way.

The more a movement crosses borders, the less likely it is to be based on the needs of any particular country and the more likely it is to be based on the needs of the transnational billionaire class.

Drinking age is not the only example, driving age is another good example and also the old TV rating system. What was considered taboo in America was often at the same time considered to be fine in places like Europe, or vice versa. But we never had a coordinated international push for censorship when it came to TV/movies like we are seeing with social media.

I can remember how much people used to deride mass surveillance and censorship in places like Russia and China and now here we are very quickly catching up to them in every way.

Dig1t··on Tesla discloses $2B AI hardware company acquisition in filing
Just look at any headline they put out about Tesla. They phrase every article in the most negative light possible and mostly seem to report only negative events about the company.

>Tesla’s ‘Robotaxi’ expansion looks like another stock pump before earnings

>Tesla’s California sales crash 24% as state’s EV market plunges to lowest since 2021

>Tesla’s head of customer experience leaves for Coinbase as talent exodus grows

Even benign announcements are phrased in a negative light:

>Tesla launches ‘Robotaxi’ in Houston and Dallas with tiny geofences

Going out of their way to say the initial area for Dallas is “tiny”. You can imagine that a few years ago when they still liked Tesla they would have reported this story much differently.

These are headlines with Fox News level of bias.

>Per-capita firearm-related deaths in Switzerland are 7 times lower than in the US

If you break gun violence down in the US by race, you get results that are much closer to Europe.

>Nationally, the U.S. gun homicide rate (per 100,000 people) in 2020 was 26.6 for people identified as Non-Hispanic Black, compared to 2.2 for those identified as Non-Hispanic white and 4.5 for Hispanic individuals of any race.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10209993/

And indeed you can observe the gun homicide rate in Sweden has doubled since 2016 precisely because of demographic change.

Sweden:

2016: 0.301

2017: 0.398

2018: 0.423

2019: 0.438

2020: 0.463

2021:0.430

2022: 0.597

ULA uses expendable rockets. From an environmental perspective and also just a basic efficiency perspective this is a no-brainer.

If the Air Force were flying cargo across the country why would we want them to be using cargo planes that get destroyed after a single use?

It’s not just one man, you have to follow the money. Look at Trump’s donors, there is a huge lobby in the US funded by Israeli billionaires who got us into this war and the previous Iraq war. The majority of our senators in both parties also supported this conflict (and also the billions in military aid we send to Israel every year) because they too have been purchased by the same lobby.

Even if we had a Nuremberg for Bibi and his cronies, this lobby will still wield enormous power in the US and continue to push us into wars for Israel.

Dig1t··on Phone-free bars and restaurants on the rise across the U.S.
An example: I went to a phone-free drink lounge with a group of people. Before the event I texted the group saying "this place takes your phone at the door" and everyone said they were cool with that and that it sounded fun.

We all knew going in that this is what we were signing up for.

It's like going to a club with a specific dress code. You go there for the atmosphere and the unique experience. And yeah everyone agreeing to not have a phone in their pocket does change how people in a group interact with each other.

Dig1t··on Phone-free bars and restaurants on the rise across the U.S.
If you all agree to not have phones, then the group social dynamic changes. You can't lean on your phone as a crutch when there's a lull in the conversation, you can't look up facts on the internet. So you're forced to think a little harder about things, to discuss a little more, be less distracted. It's fun for group outings.
Dig1t··on Phone-free bars and restaurants on the rise across the U.S.
I am so surprised at the negativity about this idea in this thread. It's a novelty, and it's pretty fun, if you don't like the idea you can just go to the 99% of other bars or restaurants that do allow phones.

I personally like going to these types of places. When you go with a group of people it does change the social dynamic, not being able to ask ChatGPT the answer to a question you don't know off the top of your head, or scroll through your messages as a crutch when there's a lull in the conversation. Everyone is more fully engaged.

It's just a fun novelty, an experience you can't get elsewhere.

Dig1t··on Oracle Files H-1B Visa Petitions Amid Mass Layoffs
It was announced as such, but the administration quietly issued an update the day after it was announced “clarifying” that it was actually a one-time fee.
Dig1t··on Oracle files H-1B visa petitions amid mass layoffs
There was no option to vote for which was actually pro-worker. The other side is just as in-favor of these "high skilled" visas, and also even more pro mass-migration of all kinds. The previous admin sued Texas and Arizona to take down their border walls, and sent forklifts to literally open the barbed wire at the border.

There is no evidence that the alternative party would have done anything about this issue.

It is obvious that both parties are completely detached from the interests of their constituents.

Dig1t··on Oracle files H-1B visa petitions amid mass layoffs
Sadly I think you're wrong on this one. Trump's donors benefit from H1B cheap labor. Musk, Elison, etc contributed large sums to Trump's campaign. Just look at Musk's "fuck your own face" tweets from Dec 2024 and you'll see how the people with power feel about this issue. As usual the middle class is being squeezed by the oligarchy.

The 100k fee basically does nothing to curb H1B cheap labor. It's a one-time fee, and when you realize that H1B's can't easily leave their job, it's a fee that easily pays for itself. H1B's are paid less for the same job (just google "are H1B's paid less"), and since they can't easily leave, the reduced turnover saves them money as well. If you think that an employee is likely to stay for 4 years, that's only 25k per year and the fact that they are paid about 15%-20% less than an American, the equation still easily comes out in favor of importing the cheap labor.

It was a move crafted to look like it was cracking down on abuse, but not actually cause any real pain to the companies abusing the system. Hence why all these mega corps are still filing for H1B's even while laying off their American citizen workers.

Dig1t··on U.S. is burning through Tomahawk cruise missile stockpile
>Netanyahu's self-destructive tantrum that dragged the US into this mess in the first place.

Dig1t··on The "Vibe Coding" Wall of Shame
I understand that, but the interesting bit is to compare how it performs relative to the average human coder. We can point out specific flaws for eternity, but if it makes 1% fewer mistakes or allows humans to code faster without increasing the number average number of mistakes, then I'd say that that's still providing value. I feel like just enumerating different mistakes that it's made is sort of biased against it because it leaves out a comparison to the alternative.

Sort of like showing off self-driving car crashes. You can spend all day listing the crashes and showing people how it has problems, but if it's statistically safer than the average driver it would save thousands of lives per year to deploy it anyway even if it's not perfect.

Dig1t··on The "Vibe Coding" Wall of Shame
I kind of think that the "Human Coding" Wall of Shame would be quite a bit larger and contain examples that are every bit as egregious.
Dig1t··on Miscellanea: The War in Iran
"I don't want to be a hated minority in my own country" is not supremacy.

China, Japan, Korea, India are nice places and I have no problem with them controlling their own borders. They are 99% ethnically homogeneous, but I don't think you would spend a second trying to claim they are "asian supremacists".

>do you not see how explaining those things (like the white replacement theory) isn't helpful?

Your original post seemed incredulous that I could claim it was happening at all, then I provided you numbers and now you've moved the goal post from "it isn't happening" to "why would you point out this thing that's obviously happening?".

Calling people Nazis doesn't work anymore, nobody cares. It's obvious your entire view on the topic is based on just trying to apply that label to everything you disagree with.

Dig1t··on Miscellanea: The War in Iran
That is why this conflict is so interesting and momentous, this is a fundamental change in the Middle East.

Israel had 2 major opponents remaining the region: Iraq and Iran.

We invaded Iraq and regime-changed them at the behest of neocons:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_C...

>Calls for regime change in Iraq

>Shortly after the September 11 attacks, the PNAC sent a letter to President George W. Bush, specifically advocating regime change through "a determined effort to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq". The letter suggested that "any strategy aiming at the eradication of terrorism and its sponsors must include a determined effort to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq", even if no evidence linked Iraq to the September 11 attacks.

>https://www.twf.org/News/Y2004/0111-Before911.html

The neocons are/were a group of American Zionists, both Jewish and Christian.

Now we are working to eliminate the only remaining rival to Israel in the region: Iran.

Israel will be free to grow into a global superpower after this is complete, Israel is the only nuclear power in the region, they sit at the nexus of the eastern and western hemispheres and on top of abundant energy reserves. _They will not need US support anymore_. This is the fundamental gamble that they are taking with this war. They know that they will lose US popular support both on the left and the right, but if it pays off they will not need that support anymore and will be free to dominate the region.

Dig1t··on Miscellanea: The War in Iran
FWIW he has said many times he regrets his role in supporting the Iraq war, and says he has since change his views.

>Biden administration’s immigration

To quote Joe Biden: "An unrelenting stream of immigration, non-stop, non-stop. Folks like me who are of european caucasian descent for the first time in 2017 we'll be an absolute minority. Absolute minority. Fewer than 50% of the people in America will be white European stock. That's not a bad thing, that's the source of our strength."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgrliuQW_-Q

Joe Biden's White House sued Texas and Arizona to get them to take down their border walls, and even sent the Border Patrol with fork lifts to forcibly open the barbed wire:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/rxPu0OnVoYU

>"the large scale replacement of white people in their home countries" as a statement of fact

In one generation (1965 to now):

USA: 90% (higher than that in most states) -> 50%

UK: 100% -> 83% (predicted to be a minority by 2066)

Australia: 98% -> 55%

New Zealand: 90% -> 67%

Germany: 100% -> 80%

Spain: 98% -> 81%

France: 100% -> 85% (difficult to estimate but likely lower than 85%)

Netherlands: 100% -> 72%

Italy: 100% -> 92%

Denmark: 100% -> 82%

Belgium: 100% -> 64%

Sweden: 100% -> 75%

Norway: 100% -> 90%

This is just one generation, extrapolating these trends out another one or two generations and the result is that whites are a minority in most of their homelands.

>nazi fucks

I mean if you're saying that I want to invade Poland, quite the opposite is true. I'm saying we should leave Poland alone so they can manage their own borders and grow peacefully. :)
