Devilboy··on BTC $141 USD
Price your goods in USD and do the conversion at payment time.

Didn't think of that idea did you?

Devilboy··on Bitcoin up 15+ percent in 1 day
I guess the main difference is that we know exactly how many bitcoins are left to be mined, while we don't really know how much gold is left in the earth's crust.
Devilboy··on Bitcoin up 15+ percent in 1 day
Well then you'll be happy to hear that Bitcoin does NOT allow one entity to produce money out of nowhere.
Devilboy··on Bitcoin exchange rate reached $100 USD per BTC
Currently bitcoin can be divided down to eight decimal places.

Devilboy··on Analyzing my DNA
> such studies are obviously social science, not science.

Hey man, you can believe whatever makes you feel better.

Devilboy··on Two Months of Soylent
You didn't eat enough fat. If you cut carbs you must increase fat intake because that's the only other source of energy.

Devilboy··on The Coinbase Android App Has Launched
Well it's about $44 now. Not really a crash in my view.
Devilboy··on The Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan (2006)
On a good clear mid-summer day that solar panel can probably generate approximately the right amount of electricity to fully charge your Tesla (assuming you got the 40kWh battery pack for it.)
Devilboy··on Bitcoin reaches an all-time trading high of over $33
I can search my apartment and find the cash fairly reliably :)

Devilboy··on Elon Musk's Data Doesn't Back Up His Claims of New York Times Fakery
The 19 / 21 inch is not the outside diameter of the tires, it's the inside diameter. Outside diameter would be about the same and would not make much of a difference.
Devilboy··on No, I'm not going to download your bullshit app

Devilboy··on Police crack down on Silk Road following first drug dealer conviction
The reason there are not a lot of scammers is because the feedback / reputation system works.

Devilboy··on A farewell to bioinformatics (2012)
He's exaggerating about the 30k of course but it's true that these positions don't pay very well compared to what experienced programmers can get elsewhere.
Devilboy··on I'm sorry
Telling someone their hard work and best efforts suck DOES hurt their feelings. If you don't recognize that and go around telling people their work sucks, then you might be an asshole.
Devilboy··on InstallMonetizer quietly starts editing website, privacy policy
As far as I can tell they're still installing crapware / spyware on people's machines for a living. Fixing some typos is not a positive in my book.
Devilboy··on Why MongoDB Never Worked Out at Etsy
Can you give me an example of a query that was made much faster?
Devilboy··on Your Facebook Pokes Are Stored For Two Days. Encryption Keys Then Deleted
Like any DRM this is easily defeated. I could run the app in a virtual machine and take the screenshot from the hypervisor or host machine instead. Or I can capture the network traffic. Or I can take a photo of my phone. And so on and so on.
Devilboy··on What does randomness look like?
Well no, if you look at the whole sky then obviously you'd see more stars in the direction of the galactic centre (the milky way) than in the opposite direction, but if you consider only a small sliver of sky the results would be pretty close to being truly random.
Devilboy··on Apple lifts block on combo 30-pin+Lightning charging accessories
I bet $10 the POP charger is getting cancelled anyway. Those guys really felt like they were just looking for a reason to cancel their kickstarter.
Devilboy··on Two-for-one: Amazon.com’s Socially Engineered Replacement Order Scam
I don't know what the hell you were doing then because I've never had any good interactions with Paypal. Ever. Last time I tried disputing a charge when the seller disappeared on me (and several other buyers) I couldn't even get a response from PayPal at all. That was the last time I used it.
Devilboy··on Why 256 bit keys are large enough
Quantum computers can, in general, provide up to a quadratic speedup over classical algorithms and WILL in fact be enough. Once we have QCs all bets are off.
Devilboy··on Why 256 bit keys are large enough
Public key crypto schemes (RSA, elliptic curve etc.) are vulnerable to some variation of Shor's algorithm. We'll have to move to quantum crypto when this happens. Hell for all I know D-Wave's machines can already break RSA for the DHS.

http://www.infosecisland.com/blogview/19707-The-Emerging-Thr...

The 256 bit key size is still the recommended maximum since no increase will help against quantum computers.

I'm looking at that table and I can't see where the Higgs boson would go either. Where would we put the Higgs?
