The simple fact is mongoDB fails to have sufficient durability guarantees for business data when compared to a traditional RDBMS. That is one of the reasons why its so fast in comparison. A power loss event during data writes can and will lead to data loss.

Github is only a high profile Git peer. If it explodes someone just pushes up to a different repo hosting site or goes back to trading chagesets some other way.

Even if you don't end up using React itself, alot of libraries are similar in concept. By learning one you can gain the concepts to use many. For example vue.js is really easy to pick up if you already know react.

As a developer in that area, its not super competitive. It is not even close to what a good senior dev is making. They also don't hire people at this level often because you are talking about a director level position. There is huge political push back. This is why its common for the contractors on the project to be paid twice as much as the employees.

I had the same issue at one company. Thats the company where I first learn about ssh tunneling. All the smart devs did it.
